How much does a trolley tour cost in St. Augustine?

Plan on roughly $35 to $45 per adult for a hop-on hop-off trolley pass, with kids around $15 to $25 and children under 5 or 6 often free. Passes usually cover one to three days of unlimited stops. Some bundle a museum or attraction, and some include parking at the operator's own lot, which matters on busy weekends.

When is Nights of Lights and is it worth seeing?

Nights of Lights runs from the Saturday before Thanksgiving into late January, with millions of white lights across the historic district and the Bridge of Lions. Weeknights in early December and mid January are far less crowded than December weekends. Trolley and boat light tours sell out, so book two to three weeks ahead for those dates.

Do I need to book St. Augustine tours in advance?

For ghost tours, boat trips and anything during Nights of Lights, spring break or holiday weekends, yes, usually a week or more ahead. Off season weekdays in late summer or February you can often walk up. The Castillo de San Marcos and the Lighthouse sell tickets on site, but the Lighthouse tower climb can hit capacity on busy afternoons.

Are ghost tours in St. Augustine scary for kids?

Most are storytelling walks, not haunted houses, and operators generally say ages 8 and up do fine. Tours run after dark, last 60 to 90 minutes, and cover a mile or so on uneven pavement. A few add an indoor or jail segment that is more intense, so ask which stops are included if you have younger kids.

What attractions are there outside the historic district?

Plenty. The St. Augustine Lighthouse and the Alligator Farm are on Anastasia Island, Marineland is south on A1A, Fort Matanzas is near Crescent Beach, and the World Golf Village area has its own attractions. Kayak and paddleboard guides launch from Vilano, the Guana reserve near Ponte Vedra, and Julington Creek. Fishing charters run out of Vilano, the Municipal Marina and Camachee Cove.

Can tour companies pick up at my hotel or rental?

Some private tour and charter operators will pick up in St. Augustine Beach, Vilano and Ponte Vedra for an added fee or minimum group size. Big trolley and boat companies run from fixed stops. If you are in Nocatee or Palencia, assume you will drive in and ask the operator about their closest parking option.

Tours & Attractions in Keystone Heights

Tours and attractions in Keystone Heights tend to orbit one of two things: the historic district in St. Augustine or the water. From Keystone Heights, plan on drive time to downtown, a parking strategy, and timed tickets for anything popular. Smaller outfits such as kayak guides, fishing charters and private history walks often pick up near where you are staying, which saves the parking headache entirely. Check cancellation terms before you pay, since weather calls are made by the operator, not by you.

How to choose a tours & attractions in Keystone Heights

Match the tour to the people you are bringing
A two-hour walking history tour on brick streets is a long time for a six year old or for anyone with a bad knee. Trolleys and boat cruises are easier on mixed groups. Ghost tours are mild but late, usually starting at 8 or 9 pm.
Read the rain and refund policy before you book
Summer storms roll through most afternoons and boat trips cancel for lightning and wind. Good operators reschedule or refund; some only offer credit. Know which one you are getting before the card is charged.
Check the license for anything on the water
Captains carrying paying passengers need a U.S. Coast Guard license, and the boat should show its capacity plate. Ask how many passengers the trip carries and whether life jackets fit kids. If the answer is vague, pick someone else.
Decide where you will park first
During Nights of Lights and spring break, the garage on Castillo Drive fills by late morning and the park and ride shuttle becomes the realistic option. Some trolley tickets include parking at their own lot, which can be worth the price difference on a busy day.
Look at recent reviews, not the star average
Guides change, boats change, and a company that was great in 2022 may run a different crew now. Read the last few months of reviews and look for comments on the specific guide or captain you are likely to get.
