We had a wonderful experience at The Crab Trap in Amelia Island. We tried the gator po’ boy, shrimp po'boy, Low Country Boil, and fish dip, and everything tasted very fresh. The Low Country Boil was the standout for us, but the gator was also delicious, and the fish dip is a must-try. The bread for the po’ boy was spot on — light and airy with a crisp crust. The service was friendly, quick, and very attentive. The restaurant had a wonderful port-style atmosphere — casual, welcoming, and the kind of place where you feel like you could walk into a great dining experience right off the boat. It was also very family-friendly. The kids’ menu was great because they could choose between land and sea options. My youngest had the fried shrimp and loved it. The restaurant and restrooms were both very clean. It is definitely a bit pricey, around $20–$50 per person, but the quality and experience made it worth it. The seating area is smaller, so larger parties may have a wait. We had a party of six around 5:30 PM on a Wednesday and waited about 45 minutes. The hostess took my contact number and texted when a table was available, which allowed us to walk around and sightsee while we waited. We were advised we had 10 minutes after the table notification to check in, which was helpful to know. Overall, this was a great family-friendly seafood spot, and we would absolutely love to return.
Really good service. The waiters were fast and super nice. The food was really solid for the price! We got ousters on the half shell, calamari fries, gator bites, bang bang shrimp and oysters rockefeller. Everything was super tasty except for the gator bites. I wouldnt order those again. I will say i do prefer my calamari in rings and tentacles but it was nice to try it differently. Overall this was really good, definitely would visit again!
Food was very good! Fried Shrimp and Oysters I did not really like the breading as it was too overbearing spice wise for me. Collared Greens were overcooked a lot. Mahi Mahi was outstanding and highly recommended! Service was friendly and excellent. Nice atmosphere too.
Honestly we love this place. The only reason for 3 stars on service is because there was only one guy that seemed to have to wait on everybody. That's because two staff members didn't show up that day. Unfortunately customers walked in and then left when they weren't greeted or seated within their expected time period. We decided to wait and see what they had offer. Now, I wish there was a star rating for the person that actually took care of us. His name is James, and he was amazing. 5 stars!! He sat everybody, made drinks, and served food all by himself. And did it with a great attitude! As I have listed in other reviews, it's hard to find good people. James is the type of good people all businesses need to have. The food was excellent, the drinks were cold and made perfectly. The lobster bisque specifically, had a rich flavor and chunks of lobster which you seem to not be able to find in many places these days. So many restaurants think lobster bisque should be more of a cream of lobster soup. Not this place though! The peel and eat shrimp was also really good. Not the absolute best I've ever had, but definitely not even close to bad. They tasted as you would expect. Anyhow, if you're here and they don't wait on you right away, give them a chance anyway. You may just end up loving it.
Had the all you can eat crab legs for Saturday dinner. Legs were cooked great and easy to clean the meat out. Bartender was very friendly. They were a little short on tables due to two parties reserving room for 12 and 20 so easy room at the bar for food. Popular place and first time there.
