The service was good & the restaurant is clean but the food was horrible. We went there for the 1st time today & it will likely be the last. My sprite tasted like well water. The fried pickles were so good & I was excited because I got a Southern BLT thinking it would have that same flavor. Nope. The fried green tomatoes were not done. They tasted like paste & when I peeled the breading back it was raw underneath. And it didn't have regualr mayo on it. It had some kind of spicy sauce on it I didnt order & I couldn't tolerate (I'm allergic to anything with red pepper in it) and I started to cough immediately. My husband's wings were rubbery and not crispy for ones that were supposed to be fried. I left having ate 1 bite of my sandwich. Disappointing. I had high hopes for this place. It wasn't worth saying anything about. They wouldn't be able to fix it by making it the same way as the 1st time.
Since the new ownership took over a couple of years ago, this place has completely leveled up. We’ve been back two or three times now, and every single visit leaves me saying the exact same thing: the food is so much better than it used to be. I’ve always loved the great location and the friendly atmosphere, but the menu never really hit the mark for me in the past. That has completely changed. The food is now genuinely fantastic, consistent, and worth coming back for. In a small town with only a few dining options, standout service makes all the difference. The staff here brings an incredible, helpful attitude every single day—they truly get what small-town hospitality is all about. Between the upgraded menu and the stellar team, this has easily join the list of great places near the house. For those of you that live in Macclenny, you know that list is not very long. 😁
Great atmosphere and very friendly staff! First time visitors here and thought the chicken Philly should have been more like a Philly and not a chicken salad. Curly fries were good. Wings dry rub were good. Fried pickles were rich with batter.
This local hot-spot in McClenny features casual family and all ages friendly dining with lots of chicken wings from traditional to boneless options with a large variety of sauces. Just so you know, they charge you for each sauce you want to add to your order and we learned that from our bill. It was 50 cents each. We ordered bonesless wings which were served like huge chunks of chicken and were moist and excellent. The sides were really outstanding including an unexpected off-the-charts excellent cole slaw and baked beans. They offered fries but we had enough fried to not want to add more. My son told us about this place and we are so glad we came in to make it a very late lunch, early dinner here. We dined in and met friendly people while dining too.
I love going here but every time I order wings I always have a problem with them. This time I bit into my wing not only to find multiple hairs in it but dark spots, it made me lose my appetite very quickly and I still had most of my meal left. I love The Coop but for the amount of errors I have had it’s hard going back there
