This college has been an amazing experience so far! The admissions office staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and patient in answering all of my questions. The financial aid office is also very responsive and always returns my calls quickly. As a first-term student, I have received all the support I needed to get started. I wasn't expecting such fast responses and helpful service, but they have exceeded my expectations. Although the campus is small, I have been able to get all the information and assistance I need. So far, I absolutely love this college and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a supportive and caring learning environment.

Every time I apply, my high school e-mails my transcripts but each time St Johns River State College said they did not receive it. Contacted my high school records department and they confirmed it was sent twice. The other colleges I applied to had no issues and received my high school transcript without a problem. Applied here because this was the closest to where I live. Ended up attending elsewhere. Campus is beautiful, but records and admissions department has a problem.
As a graduate from here Respiratory Therapy program at St. John’s River State College in st Augustine has unfortunately declined in quality. Enrollment numbers have dropped significantly, with only 3 students in the current freshman class, and the program environment has become difficult to learn in. Clinical experiences are often disrupted, and students report being pulled from sites or disciplined for minor infractions, which creates a climate of fear and intimidation rather than support and mentorship. This is discouraging because respiratory therapy is a field that needs encouragement and guidance for students to succeed. Also fees for course materials do not always match what students receive, as some materials appear to be reused. The program was once known for its quality, but unless significant changes are made, it risks losing credibility and possibly accreditation in the future. Students considering RT school may want to look into other programs that provide a more supportive learning environment.
I’m a graduate from the Respiratory Therapy program and exceptional doesn’t do it justice. This program by FAR exceeded my expectations from the start. From the high quality lab equipment to prepare you for clinical, the professional and friendly classroom environment with exceptional instruction, and a variety of hospitals to do your clinical rotations. Every hospital I’ve been to was relieved to see an SJR State student was going to be accompanying them that day. This is because we feel more like a co-worker to them. We help, get our hands dirty and learn a long the way. It’s known at all of the sites that this program produces high quality therapists and we’re prepared to answer all questions the preceptors have thrown at us. You’re taught to think critically, perform best practice, and be confident once you get to the bedside to perform all of the updated respiratory care modalities taught to you in lecture and in lab. This is by far the best program you could choose in the NE Florida region and there’s something to say about a program that’s achieved 100% board pass rates for the last 6 years, especially when you consider the national average doesn’t touch that. I started out my college career not knowing where I’d land, and now I can proudly say I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist and it’s all thanks to the amazing instructors at SJR State St. Augustine.
Worst administration I've ever dealt with. Every single person in their main office building is incompetent and uninterested when it comes to helping students. I have had to make a trip to the advisors, financial aid coordinators, and other random administrators at least twice a week because I get told misinformation every time I have an issue. The advisors are not helpful and just want to get you out of their office as soon as they can, and the front desk people are just as useless. Both of the financial aid coordinators are horrible. The woman greets you with an airpod in her ear and doesn't listen to you. The man is extremely rude and uncaring, and skips out on details that are obviously very important. Everyone here is extremely unprofessional and I wish I would have taken the drive 30 minutes down the road to FSCJ. On top of that, the directors at the school aren't any better. You would think that going to them would help resolve issues, but it only creates more. None of them know how to do their job correctly and they give you different answers every time you have the same issue.
