At first, I really loved the service and education I received at this salon, which is what encouraged me to book another appointment. During my first visit, I booked a braid and twist style. The braids turned out nice, but I did have to redo the twists because they were not the size I had requested. For my second visit, I returned for a shampoo, braid down, and scalp detox after the stylist recommended a detox to refresh my scalp since my hair was “dirty.” Unfortunately, this experience was a complete 180 from my first visit. I didn’t receive the same level of customer service that initially impressed me. I also asked if I could get a trim because I believed the salon genuinely did cared about the health and growth of its clients’ hair. The stylist asked me after my request , “Did you book the service?” I told her no. Although my appointment had already been pushed back by an hour and 30 minutes, she responded, “I don’t feel like doing it.” I completely understand that I had not booked a trim and that additional services may not be able to be accommodated. However…I found the way it was communicated to be very unprofessional. A simple explanation that there wasn’t enough time or that I would need to book it for another appointment would have been better for me at least. I didn’t get a chance to fully look at the back of my braid down before leaving the salon(my first mistake). However, when I got home and took a closer look, the braids already looked a couple of days old and were very bulky in the back. As a result, my wigs are not laying flat because the braid foundation is too bulky. I will have to take them out and redo it myself. I believe that the stylist would have braided the braids flat as she knew I was going to put a wig over it. The main reason I returned was because I appreciated the education and care I received during my first appointment. Unfortunately, I was disappointed that something as simple as a braid down did not meet my expectations.

Angella gave me pointers on how to take care of my hair at home. The relaxer did not burn at all! The shampoo was so great as well. I am very impressed. I came in a little earlier and she was able to complete my hair earlier than I expected. I can’t say enough good things about this salon. Angella is very easy to talk to and knowledgeable about her craft. I will be back to Salon 718 Jax very soon! Thank you!!!

After moving away from her, you can imagine how difficult it can be to find someone new that you trust with your hair! I found Angela online and decided to give her a call to make an appointment. From my very first appointment, Angela has done phenomenal work getting my hair back to a healthier state. I had been using keratin treatments on my hair, and over time it had become damaged from color processing, hard water, and simply needing a good cut. I originally made my appointment for the Japanese hair straightening system, but Angela took the time to thoroughly assess the condition of my hair before deciding how to proceed. That meant a lot to me because she wasn't just focused on doing the service I requested — she was focused on the health of my hair. She explained what was happening with my hair, what she recommended, and how we could move forward toward healthier growth. She was also an absolute delight to sit and chat with throughout the process, which took several hours. 😊 The cost was completely appropriate for the service I received, and I really appreciated that there were no unexpected surprises when it came time to pay. And here's the part that says it all: I live 100 miles away from the salon, and I would gladly drive 200 miles to have Angela as my stylist! 🚗💨 My hair turned out even better than I imagined. Angela is amazing!! I had the Japanese hair straightening done. My natural hair is thick, wavy and a frizz-fest. In only 4 hours, she transformed my hair from a thick frizzy nightmare to manageable, healthy, shiny, frizz-free hair. This is 15 minutes post wash and my hair is already 80 percent dry.
