I went in for a deep conditioning, trim, and blowout since my hairstylist is currently on medical leave. I don't know why, but I had a bad feeling when I walked into the salon that day, and I wish I had listened to my gut and walked out. Pricilla got me seated, and proceeded to tell me how beutiful my hair is. I told her how attatched I am to my hair, and how much I love it long, and all I wanted was a trim. She agreed, washed my hair, did the deep conditioning, and then she proceeded to chop off almost HALF of my hair. She cut my hair bending over, so maybe she couldn't see straight... I don't know. I told her that everyone cuts my hair sitting down or squatting, so they can see what their doing, but she didn't listen. After she meesed up the cut, and the instructor did her best to fix it, Pricilla proceeded to dry my hair. I told her to pre-dry it without a brush or else we would be there for hours. Again... she didn't listen. She kept blowdrying my hair with a regular brush, as slow as she possibly could. A few minutes later, I realize that I'm not hearing the blower anymore, but I'm still feeling some tugging in my hair, so I asked her what she was doing. Can you believe this girl was curling the ends of my hair while half of my hair was still wet? I stopped her right there, and she finished with the blow dryer... tried to, at least. I expressed my concerns to the instructor on the way out, and she asked me if I wanted her to fix it. Fix what? Pricilla had already chopped off all my hair. She apologized and said, "at least it's still long.". This whole procedure took 4 hours. I've never sat in a salon for more than an hour to condition, cut, and blowdry. I get it that they are students, but you'd think they'd have to perfect their craft on dolls before moving on to real human hair where your mistakes have an actual impact. Go back to your books and look up what a trim is! Instead of charging me for the services, you should have paid me for my time to let you practice. Assignment FAILED!
If i could give 0 stars. I would. I would not recommend attending Paul Mitchell The School Jacksonville. My experience was extremely disappointing from both an educational and professional standpoint. During enrollment, students are led to believe they will receive a well-rounded cosmetology education that covers much more than just hair. Unfortunately, many of those promises were never fulfilled. The overall environment is incredibly toxic, stressful, and draining. Rather than maintaining professional boundaries, many staff members seem more interested in being friends with students than acting as educators and mentors. This creates a lack of structure, accountability, and professionalism throughout the school. If you were a difficult client they would 100% speak negative of you. Educators and students. It’s horrible The quality of education is far below what I expected for the amount of money students invest. The kits provided are low quality considering the high tuition costs, and students are often left feeling like they are not receiving the value they were promised. Student behavior is another major issue. There is very little accountability, and many students are allowed to act however they want without consequences. The atmosphere can become extremely negative, with unnecessary drama, rude behavior, and a culture that makes learning difficult. Cosmetology school should be a place where students feel inspired, supported, and prepared for their future careers. Instead, this school created an environment that brought out stress, frustration, and negativity. Looking back, choosing to attend was one of my biggest regrets. I strongly encourage anyone considering enrollment to thoroughly research other cosmetology schools before making a decision.
I went to Paul Mitchell for a simple trim and some long layers, but unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing. I was there for over 4.5 hours, and my haircut was completely mishandled. The student stylist unevenly cut one side of my hair, and when the instructor attempted to fix it, it only made things worse. What I asked for was a trim with layers and what I ended up with was a choppy wolf cut, which is nothing like what I wanted. The instructor even admitted to giving me a wolf cut, which was frustrating to hear after the fact. It’s been a couple of months since the appointment, and I’m still working on correcting the shape and length of my hair. The left and right sides of my hair were left noticeably uneven, and it was clear that the stylist struggled with cutting long hair. I do not recommend going here for haircuts, especially if you have long hair — the results were unprofessional, and the time spent there made it even more disappointing. The photos that I am attaching is my hair before the haircut and a couple days after the haircut. Me and the pink shirt is a couple days after the haircut and you can see the layer(s) it is uneven and not even blended into my hair.
I sat with Kalami and Tori assisted. Kalami made sure to ask every question as she could tell I was nervous. I showed her my inspiration photo and she made it perfectly tailored to me. I’ve gotten so many compliments 🥰 although I was highly upset that while I was there 5:30-10 I order cava which is next door and it never came, I was pampered and she did an amazing job. I was so exhausted from a long drive down the coast the day before but I’m very happy with my hair. Thank you so much !
Lizzy absolutely killed it with my haircut. I came in not really knowing exactly what I wanted, and she took the time to figure out what would look best and made it happen. The attention to detail was on point, clean fade, perfect blend, and styled exactly how I like it. You can tell she really knows what she’s doing and cares about her work. Easily one of the best men’s haircuts I’ve had! definitely coming back to Lizzy.
