Lykeion Jiu-Jitsu

After a couple of weeks, I can say this is an amazing facility. Not only is the instructor very knowledgeable, he is extremely patient with the children. It’s hard to find a gym that gives individuals the personal attention needed to flourish without paying for a private lesson, but you’ll get it here. If you’re on the west side of Jax, or willing to make a drive, this is the gym for you.

We have attended two classes, my kids liked the first class but I believe the owner needs oversight, he lacks something, as I sat watching, I observe that he isn’t watching if the child is about to get seriously hurt. I know kids are resilient but what if an arm is broken? Also while wrestling at the same time as other children he didn’t teach when to or what’s the limit of a child. My son was without air with tears down his eyes when he let him go. He was wrestling with my son and my son couldn’t tap out… I believe that if he wrestles he as an adult should know safety measures. One thing is to have parents authorization the other is taking precaution. One thing is teaching the other is taking it too far when you can’t see the child can’t breathe. I truly believe that as the owner a little more instruction is necessary, a requirement should be safety especially with children.
