Jax (Jacksonville) Muay Thai

Edit: Instead of actually addressing what was said, you used a copy pasted PR response to advertise your gym's values. If your culture is truly built on "humility and respect over appearance," then your coach wouldn't have spent multiple classes sizing my body, calling me "lady" instead of my real name all the time, asking invasive questions about my education, and gatekeeping the basics by refusing to tell me what gear to buy so I could actually join. ​I won’t be emailing your staff offline to help you save face. My review stands as a completely honest account of how new women are treated when they don't fit that coach's personal mold. Future students deserve to know what kind of gatekeeping they’re walking into. I really wanted to join this place but the instructor judged me as soon as she saw me, even though she knows nothing about me. Kept looking at my body as well. Felt more like I had to audition multiple times and "prove" I wanted to be there before she would even let me join. I could tell she had assumptions about me and didn't really care if I joined or not (more like didn't want me to join.) I'm pretty much turned off from mma or any boxing because it's hard to find people who practice humility and aren't pretentious, gatekeepy, or trying to prove they're "tough". Asked her what equipment I should buy and she didn't even want to tell me that. So I took the hint and never contracted her again. There are plenty of beginners there, but I guess she specifically didn't want me there. It sucks, because I did like her at first until I started noticing things.

JMT is an amazing gym and its culture is one that makes everyone feel welcome. It’s a great place to be if you want to learn/practice Muay Thai. All of the coaches and staff are professional and respectful while also being fun to talk to and train with. Training here boosted my confidence in not only my physical abilities, but my mental fortitude as well. It’s a great place to learn that you are more capable than what you know. The gym easily became like another family to me thanks to the spectacular environment cultivated by the coaches and students. Give JMT a shot!

Even when I lived in Orlando and trained in that scene, I had learned about Jax Muay Thai. Their positive reputation is well known. When I moved to Jax, I tried a boxing gym and had a bad experience- was difficult to move on from that. But with Jax Muay Thai, they have made me feel at home. All of the coaches, especially Dora and Mike, make it a priority to give the best learning experience and to get to know you. My first camp class, Mike made sure that I had a partner that would be good for me to work with. They are just all around an amazing team and I respect how they run their business. The students are friendly and want to learn with you. 10/10 recommend.

Best Muay Thai facility I’ve trained at. I’ve been training martial arts for 12-14 years. These guys are amazing. There’s so many people to help you grow and the energy is fantastic. The instructors experience levels and teaching styles are all phenomenal. They also take gym hygiene seriously and clean daily. The atmosphere and training environment will leave you feeling motivated to improve and become the best you that you can be.
