I recently finished my left hip replacement rehab at JOI Beach and am very happy with the experience. The friendly and professional front desk staff made me feel welcomed right away. Each therapist I saw provided consistent, high-quality care, showing the team's excellent training and communication skills. The therapists are not only knowledgeable but also compassionate and truly dedicated to my progress. They took the time to explain procedures, make necessary adjustments because of my 6-5 frame, and keep me comfortable, all while offering encouragement. Overall, JOI Beach provides a warm, supportive environment that greatly helped my recovery. I highly recommend them to anyone needing physical therapy.
I walked into this rehabilitation facility to have a new splint made for my injured finger. I did not have an appointment because the last time I was there, I was specifically told that if I was not comfortable with my splint, I could come back as a walk-in and have another one made. Unfortunately, my experience with Paul was extremely disappointing. From the beginning, Paul seemed rushed and did not appear interested in taking the time to properly make the splint. He made it very quickly, and when I looked at it, I was honestly shocked at the condition of it. The splint was poorly shaped and had very rough, uneven edges. There was also a sharp, pointed piece of plastic sticking out. I specifically pointed this out to Paul because I was concerned that it could scratch or cut my skin. Instead of fixing it, he told me that I could cut it myself if I didn’t like it. I found that completely unacceptable. This was a splint being made for an injured finger, and I should not have been expected to modify a sharp piece of plastic myself. I went to the front desk to make a complaint to the older woman who was working there. Unfortunately, she did not seem to know what to do about the situation. While I was explaining what had happened, another female staff member overheard me and stepped in to help. I believe she was a rehab tech. She listened to my concerns and helped get the situation resolved. I was then sent to another staff member, a man who remade the splint for me. The difference was unbelievable. The second splint was much cleaner, smoother, and properly finished. He took his time and did a good job. I really appreciated his professionalism and the care he put into making sure the splint was done correctly. I want to recognize the female staff member who overheard my complaint and stepped in to help, as well as the man who remade the splint. They both helped turn a very frustrating situation into a better one. Unfortunately, my experience with Paul was unacceptable. The rushed way he handled my splint, the poor workmanship, and especially telling me to cut the sharp plastic myself were extremely disappointing. Patients deserve to be treated with care and professionalism, especially when they are already dealing with an injury. I hope management addresses this situation so another patient does not have the same experience.
Bridget Bigdale helped me immensly rehabing my shoulder. When I started PT I could not close my car door with my left arm-now I can. Her deep manipulation really helped too. My sleep is also improving as I continue PT at home doing exercises she recommended
The team at JOI did an excellent job across the board during my recovery. The front desk team is kind and efficient. My physical therapist, Tim, was knowledgable, supportive during the tough days, and always willing to answer questions. I also worked with Cameron, Victoria, and Andrew who were professional and kind. Kurt was helpful with insurance challenges. I absolutely would use JOI again should I need to in the future. I am very thankful.
Before coming to JOI, I had a total right knee replacement by another major Orthopedic group here in Jacksonville. My experience with one of their physical therapist was a nightmare. My wife was going to JOI and she bragged on her therapist, Kurt Mullaney! Because she so highly recommend Kurt, I scheduled an appointment with him. Kurt absolutely blew me away! First, Kurt is a gentleman, kind, patient and compassionate! Quite the opposite of my previous physical therapist! Kurt knows his kraft. His wisdom & knowledge far exceeds his age! He has faithfully been there for me, always consistent and caring through the pain of my long recovery! Kurt is an excellent representative of JOI, he needs to be rewarded for him being a genuine, phenomenal physical therapist! He is a treasure!
