Excellent spot with one NOT GREAT thing that they may feel works for them but I think they need to rethink. Dined here twice during our week long vacation. The atmosphere is top notch. Great indoor and outdoor space, overlooking the water. Ordering is "fast casual" style, from the counter. Self-service drinks and such. Here's where it gets tricky... Seating is "fast casual" style as well. First come, first serve, this may work during slow periods, whenever that may be. But during our Sunday lunch and Tuesday dinner, it was awkward and uncomfortable chaos. With a full house, you're left to stand awkwardly amongst those already seated and dining, watching like hawks for tables looking ready to get up. You and everyone else waiting on tables to clear. This creates some uncomfortable confrontation with other parties, all claiming "I was here first" or "we've been waiting on this table", etc. It turns an otherwise very cool and casual atmosphere into a tense mess that customers shouldn't have to deal with. Nor should those eating at the table should have to deal with people hovering over them trying to "claim" their table and make diners feel pressured to hurry and clear out. Saw one man standing with his hand on a lady's chair while they finished eating, staking his claim. All of that could be avoided if they just simply sat customers at tables. I'm leaving out some of the ugliness that we witnessed. Rant over. The food is very good, high quality and very generous portions. Excellent value for the money. Very reasonable prices. Again, absolute 10/10 if you ignore the seating chaos.

We have been to this wonderful restaurant twice now and might even go back tomorrow again! We’ve had lunch and dinner- both amazing! Great drinks, but the food is out of this world! Best crab legs cooked perfectly! The sweet potato mash is heavenly and more like a dessert! Perfect cuts of mahi blackened just right. Beautiful view!! Fantastic service and a great owner!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We brought the whole family to the Grouper Shack and everyone loved it! Great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and so many options on the menu. The sides are especially good, with choices like collard greens, sweet potatoes, and lots more. The prices are very reasonable, and there’s something for everyone. They even have a whole snapper on the menu, which is a great option if you’re looking for something a little different. It’s right on the water and a great spot for families, couples, or just hanging out and enjoying a good meal. Great food, good value, and a really enjoyable atmosphere. Definitely recommend! !
Our new favorite place to eat. Atmosphere can’t be beat! Manager is top notch nice! Fresh, hot, delicious food every time. We go almost every week. Try to hit the early lunch or late lunch hours. Collard greens are the best I’ve ever had!
We came here for dinner after seeing Google reviews calling it a hidden gem in St. Augustine and they were absolutely right. Everything we ordered was fresh, hot and delicious. The waffle fries came out perfectly crispy and fresh, and the fried cod and shrimp basket I ordered definitely lived up to its name. The lobster bisque was served hot and tasted amazing too. My husband’s sandwich came with bacon, but the staff handled it so kindly and quickly. They immediately got us a new one without making a big deal out of it, which we really appreciated. Great food, great service and such a wonderful overall experience. Definitely recommend!
