Dining at O'Steen's Restaurant was an absolute highlight of my time in St. Augustine! I ordered the seafood platter and absolutely loved it—everything was cooked perfectly. It is important to note for future diners that virtually all of the main food options here are fried, served up in that classic, delicious Southern style. While the seafood was incredible, what I enjoyed the most was the outstanding hospitality. The entire staff is incredibly friendly, and the two guys working up front cleaning the tables were fantastic—they kept my conversation very interesting and made the environment so welcoming while I enjoyed my meal. To top it all off, you cannot leave without trying the coconut pie. It is the absolute best of the best—an incredibly rich and creamy coconut pie that is worth the trip alone. Just remember to bring cash since they are a cash-only establishment. Top-tier service, amazing energy, and legendary food!

Order 2 orders of fried shrimp with fries, hush puppies and coleslaw to go.bthe lady taking orders was very welcoming and very informative about the items on the menu. Their special pink sauce to dip the shrimp in was delish! It seems like it a very busy spot, we waited about 25mins. Food was delicious!
Amazing food and service. Parking can be a struggle depending on how busy they are. Brittany was absolutely amazing! Shrimp was excellent! Hush puppies were fresh and tasty. Save room for the dessert. Four of us enjoyed a late lunch for under $20 each. We were full when we left. Definitely worth the time and effort. Did I say Brittany was amazing?! Cash only.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worth the Hype (and the Drive!) for the Shrimp Alone I’ve heard family members rave about O’Steen’s fried shrimp for years, claiming it’s worth a stop and an hour drive—so I finally put it to the test. Following their advice, I arrived 10 minutes after opening, brought cash, and got ready for a feast! The Atmosphere & Process Parking & Wait: The parking lot was already half full 10 minutes after opening. Check-In System: You check in at the outdoor window, and your entire party must be present before you’re seated inside. There are benches outside to wait on, which makes the process easy. Important Note: Bring cash! This spot is cash-only. The Food 12-Piece Fried Shrimp Plate (5/5): Served with hush puppies and buttered grits. These shrimp are huge! Normally, larger shrimp can get tough or have a metallic aftertaste, but these were cooked to absolute perfection with great texture and flavor. I definitely overate, but it was worth every bite. Minorcan Clam Chowder: Good flavor, though unexpected if you're used to traditional New England white chowder. This is a tomato-based chowder with a hearty vegetable-soup style to it. Still tasty, just good to know what to expect! The Verdict The rumors are true. Get there early, bring cash, order extra shrimp, and enjoy—this place isn't playing around!
Wonderful service! They have a woman who is fluent in ASL for the deaf community. She was extremely nice! All the waitresses and waiters we’ve had are very sweet as well! The shrimp is amazing!! Never had anything like it! The hush puppies are also soooo good!!! If you get there before 5pm, you’ll be able to get seated earlier! It’s a quite popular place with the locals! CASH ONLY! Make sure to bring cash!
