Dr. Williams was the first vet I came to after relocating with my 12 year old Siamese cat. Soon after the first visit my cat was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I supported my cat for 8 months after the diagnosis, with daily medication, special diet, frequent emotional vet visits, and pain management. This was the cat I rescued at the age of 18; I was devastated. But Dr. Williams was there for us every step of the way, she answered all questions, responded to phone calls quickly, and knew exactly how to comfort a pre-grieving pet parent. I would recommend this vet practice to anyone. The office staff are friendly over the phone and in person, the vet techs are caring, and Dr. Williams is one of the best vets I’ve ever visited.
Dr. Williams has been amazing with Hoodie. She is incredibly compassionate, patient, and thorough, and she identified several early health concerns, including his small kidneys and HCM, which allowed us to intervene early. We are so grateful for her care, empathy, and dedication to Hoodie’s health.
UPDATE: After my husband and I shared our concerns about the communication and overall experience at this clinic, we were essentially cut off as clients. We received a written letter informing us that the clinic had decided to part ways with us, effective immediately. This was not something we requested. This left us with a dog who requires medication and only a limited supply while we now have to find a new veterinarian within a month. We are now facing the additional expense and inconvenience of finding a new veterinarian and establishing care elsewhere. To make matters worse, I still do not think we received the blood work results from our previous visit, despite paying for the testing. We were hoping our concerns would lead to better communication and a resolution. Shame. ORIGINAL REVIEW: My husband and I have been taking our Doberman to this clinic since we moved to Jacksonville. Until recently, our experiences were simply average. We never had a particularly bad experience, but nothing stood out enough to make us recommend them over any other veterinary clinic. Unfortunately, our most recent visits have left us extremely disappointed. Compared to last year, the cost of routine care increased dramatically, yet there was little to no communication about pricing beforehand. The staff often presented treatments as though they were expected without clearly explaining what was optional, recommended, or medically necessary. There was very little consultation or discussion, leaving us to research many things on our own. We own Dobermans, a breed known to be predisposed to several serious health conditions. Surprisingly, no one at the clinic ever discussed these breed-specific risks with us or recommended preventative screening. It left us questioning how familiar they are with the unique health concerns of the breed. During our dog's annual wellness visit, we paid over $225 for bloodwork alone, also not shared with us ahead of time. We never received a call or message with the results. If we paid for diagnostic testing, we expected someone to review the findings with us, even if everything was normal. To make matters worse, we returned two weeks later for a scheduled booster vaccine. Before the appointment, I specifically asked whether there would be any additional charges and was told there would not be because the vaccine series had already been paid for during the wellness visit. However, when my husband arrived home, he told me we had been charged an additional $57 simply for bringing our dog into an exam room so a veterinarian could administer the booster. There was no examination, no consultation, and no discussion with a veterinarian, just the injection. In total, we spent more than $700 for a routine annual wellness visit and standard vaccinations. The lack of transparency, communication, and value for the cost has been incredibly disappointing. Unfortunately, we can no longer recommend this clinic.
The whole team at Deerwood Animal Clinic are so special! My fur baby Precious went through a very rough event with many visits to the ER vet ECoVets (great team there too) and through it all Dr Williams and her team checked in and stayed beside us. Then when Precious would not eat and drink after all she had been through, they stuck with us to figure out a bad bacterial infection was the cause and next challenge. Meds were rough but she was finally healed and is now thriving. Dr Williams never gave up and her staff were so kind and encouraging. Thank you for everything - you can feel the love and passion! Hugs from me and my sassy spicy fur angel!!
I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Williams and the entire team at Deerwood Clinic Every time I’ve reached out, they’ve been incredibly responsive and quick to assist, even on short notice. Whether it’s for regular check-ups, last-minute prescription refills, or answering my questions about Jacob’s care, their responsiveness and professionalism have been outstanding. Dr. William is not only highly knowledgeable but also genuinely compassionate, always taking the time to explain everything thoroughly and put my mind at ease. The staff, too, is wonderful—they’re friendly, attentive, and clearly love what they do. Jacob, my dog, can be a little nervous, but they handle him with such care and patience that he always leaves happy (and with a wagging tail!).
