It did not start out well. I applied for a new car loan and a refinance, but I didn't get approved. I was so upset because I had been wanting to be a part of the Coastline FCU's family for quite some time, and I truly believed that having established credit elsewhere, I deserved a chance. I was denied on a Friday, and I waited to call the branch manager, Jane Adams, at the headquarters to get an understanding of the denial. Within a few minutes, the branch manager expressed great concern and connected me to the lending manager, Samantha Hasty. Ms. Hasty looked into my case immediately. She actually stopped everything that she was doing to see about me. After an explanation of why I felt looked over, Samantha assured me that she would look further into the details. I got a call that afternoon to inform me that she was almost finished with the investigation. She called me as soon as the branch opened the next morning with an approval to refinance both of my vehicles. I was ecstatic to finally be approved by Jacksonville's Premier credit union. I was also elated that someone in the institution cared enough about my feelings to actually apologize with the sincerest words, motive, and concern for me. I went from feeling left out and discriminated against, to feeling as if I had a personal banker. I was then directed to Lisa in the mortgage department, who gave me a thorough explanation of the requirements to originate and close a mortgage with CFCU. The ball didn't stop rolling there. One week later, I was contacted by Ms. McManus from the lending department with a credit card offer. I was even approved for a small signature loan to have a repair done in my home. I am not only honored to be a member; I'm honored to have established credit with a credit union for the first time in my life (2.5 months from turning 55). I now feel as if credit will no longer be an issue now that I have found true financial love. These are people who care about the weak. My score is not in the 700's, but they took the time to study my payment history. I know that I have to wait patiently, but I want every property that I own to be under the CFCU umbrella. I thank God for this organization and especially Samantha Hasty; she is an informal advisor for building my future. To God be all the Glory for what He has done.
