This gym’s decision to make the sauna co-ed without consulting with women who actually use the space is an absolute masterclass in how to alienate your members and make women less safe in your space! A sauna is an intimate, vulnerable environment where people are sitting around in minimal clothing, trying to relax, not a corporate boardroom where management can make a unilateral decision and expect everyone else to simply adapt. What’s especially frustrating is the complete lack of consideration for the women who might have legitimate privacy, comfort, cultural, or safety concerns. Apparently, asking the female members who are directly affected by the change was too much to expect. On top of ALL that, it appears that they took from the women’s locker room space to make this new coed sauna and freeze rooms. Leaving the men’s locker room untouched and much larger than the new women’s locker room! If your solution to a problem is to remove a space where women felt comfortable without even bothering to ask them how they felt about it, don’t call that “progress.” Call it what it is: incredibly poor management and a spectacular failure to listen to your members. Ignorance at its finest! A gym should be creating an all inclusive environment where people feel comfortable and safe, not making major changes to intimate spaces and then acting surprised when someone has to point out the obvious perspective they missed in an expensive remodel. Shameful! Ladies - Be careful in this space in general!!! When an organizations leaders make glaringly obvious poor choices like this one, it’s a sign that they genuinely don’t care about our safety - especially when the obvious is pointed out to them as a miss and they still do nothing to fix it! Not sure how many women will need to be uncomfortable, attacked, or even hurt in the sauna before this gets addressed….. but it’s already happening now.

I have been a member of Baily's / Chuz Fitness since 1997 and the new renovations are amazing! From the new saunas and locker rooms to all the new equipment that compliments a lot of great equipment that they already had ( including a rare, for a gym ," 4 Way Neck Machine " makes it one of the best very affordable gyms in town. The staff are friendly , professional and are always keeping it clean and neat. The addition of The Relaxation area is another great plus with massage chairs and red light therapy chambers.

I am an old-school Bailey's member, the new Chuze experience has been just as good, if not better than Bailey's. I love the hydro and massage chairs, really helps me get thru a tough week and relieve soreness! Only thing I would change is having everyone rely on their phones solely to use the facility- I'd like the key cards to come back, but it's nice that staff still takes phone numbers to check you in- great job!
