Chuze Fitness

May as well just close this location down the equipment is old and outdated and always broken for some reason? The only good thing about this gym, (the athletic training room) with the grass) has had the lights turned off and locked. I’ve stopped coming to this location but came today because it’s closer to my house and immediately wished I would have just taken the longer drive to beach. It’s hot in here, the ceiling is leaking and they have the same amenities at planet fitness for 15 dollars cheaper. Why does one location have everything and this one is lacking in every aspect.

I've been a member of Bailey's (now Chuze) for over 15 years, and I have always loved this location on Philips at Baymeadows. Unfortunately, since Chuze took over and the summer heat arrived, there have been ongoing AC issues. Management has acknowledged the problem, but it has now been going on for three weeks, which is unacceptable in the Florida heat and humidity. The workout floor feels like it is at least 80 degrees, while the front desk area has working AC. Fans have been brought in, but they simply push the hot air around rather than actually cooling the workout area. What is even more frustrating is the lack of communication from management. Members have received little to no information about what is being done to resolve the issue or when we can realistically expect it to be fixed. After being a loyal member for 15+ years, I shouldn't have to take my workouts to another location because the gym I pay to use isn't adequately cooled. It is disappointing to feel that the members at this location are not being valued. Do better. Fix the AC and communicate with your members about the status of the repair.

Manager is unfit to run a business. Spray bottles and paper towels are always empty. My biggest issue was they suspended my son from child care for 7 days because another kid PUNCHED him in the stomach so he PUSHED him away and then the kid punched him again. My son was suspended for PUSHING the kid away that was assaulting him and even the manager agreed that he was defending himself but she just kept saying “we have policies any physical touching is a suspension” she said the kid shouldn’t react and let the teacher handle it but who in their right mind wouldn’t push someone away who’s actively punching them?? The other kid also received a 7 days suspension even though he was the aggressor. I told my son punch whoever punches him because clearly the teachers aren’t stopping it and he gets the same punishment either way. Emailed corporate and no response. The response you gave was absolute bullshit. The “Policies” aren’t to protect the kids clearly since the kid who ASSAULTED my son was given the same punishment as my son who was ASSAULTED. This gym has went to shit, every other location in Jacksonville is better in every way possible. Some of the staff is pretty friendly but the manager was confrontational and rude when I spoke to her about the issue with my son. 0/10 gym from being too packed, no cleaning supplies, broken machines that take weeks to fix, and horrible customer service from the manager. The rest of the staff is fairly friendly but the manager is awful and not helpful whatsoever.

I used to love coming to this location when it was still baileys. After it was acquired by chuze, everything went downhill. Before I was paying $15 a month which covered most amenities including the sauna. Now that it is a chuze fitness the price has doubled just to keep the same amenities. There are late fees even though I have no yearly commitment and the fees are ridiculously high. Overall the worst gym I have been to and it is a result of corporate greed.
