  Nice salon in a historic home with a welcoming and friendly staff. I chose it because of the great reviews and local boutique feel. Unfortunately, I asked for a small 2–3 inch trim and layering on hair that was past my shoulders, but it was cut down to around my ears/neck. I had been growing my hair out for years, and it had become a large part of my routine and how I presented myself. The hair will grow back, but getting back to the length and volume I had before will likely take another 6–12 months, which made the experience honestly extremely disappointing. What made it more frustrating is that we had discussed the length at the beginning, and she even joked that she would not give me a weird bob cut. Mistakes happen, and she did try to save what she could afterward, but the result was still far shorter than what I wanted or expected. I would recommend being very clear, maybe even borderline redundant, about the exact length and style you want before any cutting starts, making sure the stylist specifically confirms the length with you before moving forward, and possibly even repeating it throughout the appointment.
