Very cozy and quiet accommodation in a central location to the city center - everything in walking distance. We liked: The furnishings, the quiet but very good location within walking distance to the city center, free parking directly at the accommodation, well equipped, everything available as described, very cozy. Large shared living area with kitchen and dining room, private bedrooms and bathrooms were large enough. Communication beforehand was informative. We didn’t like: Inaccurate (no) description of the entrance, it would have been good to know right away which of the three doors of the main house is the right one to use with the code. Conclusion: We really enjoyed our stay at this place and felt really comfortable and save, the house is well equipped and absolutely beautiful. One thing that needs improvement is the communication about the entrance to this house. Everything else was absolutely fine. It is communicated that there’s no breakfast included. Maybe the house itself needs some improvement here and there. It would be nice if the outdoor areas such as garden, balcony and terrace were a little cleaner and more inviting. But keep in mind it’s an old historic house so there was nothing that bothered the overall stay. Overall it was clean.
The stay was amazing! Would definitely come back! Family friendly; and right near eveything! Owners are very responsive and helpful! Very clean, very nice, and very cozy! Feels like a home away from home!
-There was a dead cockroach under the coffee table -staff forgot to provide bedding for both of the pullout beds in the room, resulting in two guests sleeping on towels for the first night. Staff argued with me insisting that linens were in the closet (they were not, we had thoroughly looked in ever cabinet and the closet the night before) and finally had cleaners bring bedding... which only included one twin set of sheets (with no twin comforter/quilt) and then king sheets. As I had specified in the messages, we needed two sets of twin sized bedding. So even on the second night the bedding was incorrect.
Even though the town and this bed and breakfast are older, that should never be an excuse to compromise on cleanliness or quality. From the start, our experience was disappointing. We were surprised to find out that breakfast would not be served at all, which completely defeats the purpose of booking a “bed and breakfast.” We also had issues with the Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi instructions in our email were different from the ones posted inside the house, which caused a lot of confusion. On top of that, we never saw a single person during our stay. No one greeted us, no one checked in to see if we had questions, and no one asked how our stay was going. It felt very unlike other Airbnbs or traditional bed and breakfasts we’ve stayed at in the area. We stayed at Bayfront Westcott House two years ago and will be returning there instead. The Key West Suite here was extremely run down and dirty. The attached photos show the condition of the room. I found hair and dust throughout the suite, and it clearly did not look like it had been properly cleaned before our arrival. The rug was gross, we couldn't open two blinds and the grout in the bathroom was completely black. I felt gross and uncomfortable the entire time I was there. I also started coughing whenever I was in the suite, which makes me think there was something off with the air quality. Overall, extremely disappointed and would not stay here again.
Absolutely wonderful stay at Journey's End! I would HIGHLY recommend it to any couple searching for a stay in the city of St. Augustine. The place was extremely clean, and Debbie is the on-site manager who is super helpful and kind. The check in process is seamless. Towels and small toiletries are provided. Comfy beds, and the house is kept at a great temp. The BEST part... ON SITE PARKING! It is just off the main city area, about 5min walk to the city center. You will feel safe walking around at anytime. There is not a breakfast option served, but with all of the options around the city...its not missed! Coffee & Tea and filter water is always available. 10/10 would stay again!
