We initially stopped at Alvin’s to buy a beach umbrella because we’re very pale Midwesterners trying our best to avoid sunburn! My husband checked the price of the exact same umbrella at Walmart, and surprisingly, it was actually more expensive there. This store has just about every beach item you could imagine. It’s huge and packed with merchandise, which definitely gave me sensory overload (in a good way), but it also made it easy to find everything we needed. We also picked up a couple of shirts, a magnet, and postcards, all at very reasonable prices. There were plenty of sales throughout the store, and we felt like we got great value for our money, especially considering it’s located in a tourist-heavy area of Florida. The staff was friendly, and we even received a free cup after spending over a certain amount. My only minor criticism is that some of the aisles are fairly narrow and crowded with merchandise. If you have young children who like to run around or you need a little extra space to maneuver, you’ll want to be careful because it would be easy to bump into displays. Overall, Alvin’s is a great place to pick up beach essentials, souvenirs, and apparel at fair prices. If you forgot something at home, there’s a very good chance you’ll find it here without breaking the bank!
Large selection of T's and typical beach stuff. Prices are ok on some things and pricey on others. Watch signage on displays.....some signs with % off of items then find out at register "oh that's not included in that sale". Staff helpfulness is 50/50. Have found the female staff was much more helpful than the male staff.
I love Alvin's Island! Friendly helpful staff. So much fun stuff to purchase from beachy clothes to souvenirs, memories of our family vacay in St. Augustine. The beaches on Okaloosa Island are still the most beautiful!
The employees were excellent they had it under control u ask for something or need something off the top didn't hesitate to get it good employees
This place always hires the most ratchet employees. I’ve been in there twice this week and find the staff to be very unfriendly. The first time I went in this week, there was a lady behind the cash register, complaining to the other cashier about their schedules. I went in there today, and the girl was extremely unfriendly, even though I tried to make small conversation with her. They really need to get higher quality people working in the store that actually care about helping customers when they come in.
