Woody's Bar-B-Q - Jacksonville (University)

Came on a Sunday after church, We were sat within about 5 minutes of entering, and there was one other table of 2 people there besides us, and only one server for the whole place. She told us that on the weekends they only staff one server, that is the norm. Just mentioning that because it was not just a one time thing. Needless to say, we will not be back. Be aware, it also states on menu, that prices are different whether you pay with cash or card. If you plan to pay with your credit/debit card, the food is more expensive. We had a party of 5, and they charged us an additional 20% "large party" fee. We were there over 2 hours because the waitress was the only one and she was doing everything. She came and took our drink orders, and we ordered an appetizer, which came out about 20 minutes later, and she still hadn't brought the drinks. The food came out very slow, and not all together, so some were eating and others were not. My husband waited an additional almost 20 minutes before his food came, and most were almost finished before his arrived, and it wasn't even complete, it was missing sides, it was just the meat. She never came back to check on us, and we had a hard time getting anything additional we needed with our food or refills on drinks. We needed boxes, but after waiting almost 30 minutes and no one checking on us, I walked to the front and asked for boxes. The gentleman at the counter was bent over eating, with earbuds in, and did not even acknowledge my presence. Overall, it was a horrible experience, between the service and the outrageous prices, we will definitely not be back. I can see why the parking lot is always empty. After Splitting the check, for 2 lunch entrees and 2 drinks, with the already added 20% "large party fee" and the inflated credit prices, it was over $75. The exact same food at Bonos, but better, after tip, would be around $35, with better service. We will definitely not be back. Please don't waste your time or money here. I surely wish we hadn't.

Let's just say we love us some Allison! Thank you so much Miss Allie for making it a great experience! We got the rib special that you recommended and it was amazing not to mention those black eyed peas were h i t t i n! The customer service that we experienced was definitely something that you don't find anymore at restaurants or really anywhere but the way Miss Allie made us feel was not only welcoming but definitely make sure we'll be back Friday night to make sure we get her. Xzander and Angie love you already. It's not often that somebody makes you feel like you want to be back and gives you a smile that is genuine and often something that we need. Have eaten here several times. Food is always good, and the service is friendly and attentive. I had the fried ribs. The batter is seasoned well and crunchy. The meat was tender and well flavored. Photo only shows half of the order (I shared). Pulled pork plate was generous and delicious. Okra was cook perfect. Kids sliced pork sliders. Good sized and very good. Salad bar was fresh, clean, and large selection.

This is just a down home little country restaurant that makes you remember some good things from the past. The turkey is always delicious at any location I've been too
