If you’re looking for a place that feels like a hidden gem, go check out Wafaa and Mike’s on Main Street! We had just gotten back from traveling and wanted something healthy, delicious, and local for dinner. In Jacksonville options for health conscious meals, late, are really limited. Also, having been here before we were just hoping we didn’t miss their hours. Today we decided to venture down the menu and can definitely say something that stood out differently than past visits was the vibe! It was relaxed yet super welcoming and the lighting was softer with low-fi music playing in the background. Actually, it was from Erykah Badu. We started with the Mezze which is really a “your choice” combination of their apps. We had the hummus, baba ghanouj, WMC hummus, and falafels. YES TO THAT especially if you like hummus combinations with great flavor! For dinner, we had the WMC Burger Pita, table Parmesan fries, and a gyro platter over a bed of rice. We’d say both the beef and the lamb were incredibly tender, not to mention the flavors were packed. The oregano and cheese combination on the Parmesan fries was especially good AND shareable for two. One of my favorite parts about our recent experience was talking with the owner/chef. We probably kept him much longer than we should have, but he was just so warm and easy to talk to we couldn’t help ourselves. Great food is one thing, but meeting great people makes you want to come back and support. Sidebar… please do yourself a favor and order the tea. Have it as is!! Trust me on that one. There’s just something special about their use of rose water! 😊 If you’re anywhere near Springfield and want fresh, flavorful food in a laid-back atmosphere, Wafaa and Mike’s is absolutely worth the stop. We certainly left full, happy, and already talking about what we’d order next time. ❤️
Such great, delicious food! My daughter and I shared a Mezze of 4 apps followed by the chicken shawarma. And Mike was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome and appreciated
Good restaurant for sure but I wouldn’t say that it’s my fav shawarma restaurant. The food tasted just okay for my taste. As someone who grew up in the Middle East, I’ve eaten more authentic shawarmas and I didn’t think this met up to the par. They do taste good for what they offer and it’s cooked well but definitely can be better. The exterior makes you feel like this restaurant isn’t good but it’s not bad for sure.
Waffa & Mike’s Café – Jacksonville, FL Waffa & Mike’s Café is an excellent place to grab lunch. We go here pretty often, and it never disappoints. My favorite is the beef shawarma platter with baba ganoush and grilled bread. The food always tastes incredibly fresh and healthy. The service is fast and very friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommended if you’re in the area and looking for something delicious and satisfying.
I entered WMC Mediterranean Food as a normal human with average hunger levels. I exited as an enlightened being floating three inches above the ground. The food was so good my taste buds started speaking in ancient languages. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, the rice was fluffy like a cloud engineered by NASA, and the garlic sauce? Illegal levels of deliciousness. I am now 78% hummus. At one point I took a bite and genuinely forgot all my responsibilities. Bills? Gone. Stress? Deleted. I think I saw heaven for 4.7 seconds and it smelled like fresh pita bread. The staff were super friendly and efficient. My food arrived faster than my emotional support issues.
