Food: the chicken was more dry than what I expected it to be. I like it wet and juicy and I don’t think it hit that spot. The short ribs sandwich wasn’t too bad. It had good flavors. Have to come back to try other things. Service: The food took a long time to come out. They kept saying that the kitchen was backed up but it seemed like other people were getting their food before ours. We did go on a Sunday at 11am when they opened up but it’s all good, they were willing to take the entire thing off the bill which is a really good customer service I would say. Ambience: Music was loud especially when there was live music outside and both the music was blending and not gelling but the overall ambience is pretty good. They had live music and they are connected to a dock, which is pretty interesting seeing all the boats docked. They have outdoor seating as well.
Absolutely loved Wicked Barley. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with plenty of space and amenities for dogs. Dutch had a great time, and the staff were attentive, friendly, and clearly love having dogs around. Our server, Chance, was excellent—friendly, helpful, and made the experience even better. The clientele was also very enjoyable and laid-back, with plenty of chill dog people while still being comfortable for guests who aren’t necessarily there for the dogs. Great waterfront setting, great service, and an easy place to relax with your dog. Definitely coming back.
We wanted brunch at a brewery and boy did we find one! Wicked Barley brewing killed it... Amazing brunch menu, great atmosphere, great service and good beers! Definitely stopping in from time to time as I drive from Miami to Georgia often.
AWESOME big burger and beer! You know when you get a steak that has that perfect sear edges? The burger has that, and it's SO flavorful. Best burger I've had in a very long time, on par with my best ever. Generously meaty and cheesy (quite filling on it's own), served with some excellent crispy fries with soft center. Seriously though, the burger (The Filmore) was outstanding from both flavor and quality/portion perspectives. The imperial milk stout was extremely good as well, smooth while being quite potent and loaded with delicious. VERY strongly recommend! *Hard to find, immediately after a bridge sort of hidden behind trees! Shout out to my server Chance, he recommended the burger and provided honestly the perfect service- very quick and attentive, friendly, not bothersome. Overall verdict: a new favorite spot, 100% will be back.
We've been to Wicked Barley many, many times over the years for all sorts of events but I think this might be the very first time we've stopped by out of nowhere in the middle of a week day. We started with the cheese curds which we've had during those "many, many" trips previously. My wife likes the jalapeno ranch and I'm good with regular, so it's good you can request a bit of both. For all the times we've been here, I have somehow never had any of their burgers so I ordered one this time. They have good variety of them so I included that whole section of the menu. This being my first one, I went basic and ordered their regular cheeseburger, medium well. That's a good burger! It was cooked how I ordered it, the meat was great and the bun held up well. That's what I want from a burger. I liked the fries quite a bit as well and I rarely eat a lot of my sides, regardless of what they are. This may sound weird but it's kind of a big compliment from me if I keep picking at a side and I kept picking at the fries until they were almost gone. My wife ordered the Hummus Wrap. The first thing she pointed out was that the grill marks aren't just there for show, they really do add to the overall flavor. You can see from the menu description and the photo that there's a LOT more than just hummus in it. She said that's not a bad thing. We joked that it should be listed on the menu more like a concert billing. Something like "Salad Wrap with special guest Hummus". Again, that's not a bad thing because she liked everything in it. She liked the creativity having the hummus compliment a lot of ingredients instead of a few small things mixed in with a lot of hummus. It was fun being at Wicked Barley on an odd day/time for us. I'm glad we both tried things we really liked. I'm reasonably sure the next time we're planning to go there is Easter Brunch which is something we've done many times. If you haven't been to that event, it's definitely worth checking out. A version of this review originally appeared in the Jacksonville Fun, Eats & Drinks Facebook group.
