Tropical Automotive Inc. of St. Augustine

I am extremely disappointed with the way Tropical Automotive Inc. handled my daughter and son-in-law's situation after purchasing a 2012 F-150 pickup truck from them. What should have been a reliable vehicle turned into a nightmare within days of taking it home. Just four days after purchase, the truck broke down on the road. When they contacted the dealership, they picked it up, diagnosed a leaking coolant, and assured them it was fixed. Trusting their words my daughter and her husband continued using the vehicle --- only to have it completely break down again just two and a half months later. This time the engine is completely ruined and once again the diagnosis is a leaking coolant--- the same issue that was supposedly repaired. Side note--- these are two young people 21 yrs old, in the military, just starting out life. Now Tropical Automotive is refusing to take any responsibility, simply stating the vehicle was sold "as is" While we understand what "as is" means, selling a vehicle with an unresolved issue and failing to properly repair it is unacceptable business practice. A trustworthy dealership should stand behind the cars they sell and, at the very least, handle customer complaints with integrity. Instead this experience has proven that once they have your money, they are done with you. To anyone considering buying from Tropical Automotive Inc., I strongly urge you to thoroughly inspect the vehicle, get an independent mechanic's evaluation, and be cautious before purchasing. A good deal isn't worth the headache if the dealership won't stand behind their sales. I sincerely hope they rethink how they handle customer concerns, because this is not how a reputable business should operate. 🚗 Future buyers, do your research and proceed with caution!

I have bought three cars from them throughout my life. All of them lasted a long time and I had no issues with them. Unfortunately, I got a brain injury & starting having seizures. I had to stop driving for a year & be seizure free before getting bck in drivers seat. Therefore, Tropical Auto took my car back & forgave what I owed with no problem & didn't put it against my credit. They were very understanding & sympathetic. They are definitely a great place to buy a car!

He is not an honest man.I bought truck from him,fan motor was bad and he deleted the code and 1 hour later came back to him and he said I may purchased bad gas from near Sunoco gas station.He knew the problem.Tires ,batterie was old got stock week later got towed.Don’t trust him.

Good people good prices they stand behind what they tell you and what they sell you I've never had a problem with them. I bought a few vehicles from them so far so good. I don't even look anywhere else I'll wait until they get something that we like and then we make a deal another good thing is he's not into that real long-term financing like these other buy here pay here car lots
