  This was my very first time shipping a car, and I have to admit, I was extremely apprehensive about the entire process. I had never done anything like this before and wasn't sure what to expect. After completing the process with TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico, I can honestly say that I could not have been in better hands. From beginning to end, TOTE Maritime was phenomenal. They provide you with a clear, step-by-step process, and if you follow their instructions, the entire experience becomes surprisingly easy. I called numerous times throughout the process, not necessarily because there was a problem, but because I wanted the peace of mind of knowing I was doing everything correctly. Every time I called, they answered quickly and were extremely courteous, patient, and helpful. One of the things I appreciated most is that I was able to do everything on my own. There was absolutely no need to pay a gestor or a broker. TOTE Maritime provided the information and guidance I needed to navigate the process myself. A Very Important Tip for Anyone Shipping a Car to Puerto Rico If you want to minimize delays, I cannot stress enough how important it is to prepare your Hacienda/SURI account well in advance. 1. Create your Hacienda account through SURI while you are still in the U.S. Hacienda has nothing to do with Tote company but it is a step you need to do for them to release the vehicle. I strongly recommend doing this at least 7-10 days before your vehicle is scheduled to be shipped. The approval process can take some time, and you will need to provide two or three forms of identification, as well as your vehicle title or documentation from your financial institution if you are still making payments on the car. Once you receive the approval confirmation through the email address you provided, you can move forward with scheduling your vehicle shipment. 2. Be prepared for the timing of your vehicle's arrival. My car arrived on a Friday, but unfortunately, it arrived after 5:00 PM. Because of that, I had to wait until Monday to continue with the process. Thankfully, because I had already taken care of my SURI account ahead of time, I was ready for Monday. TOTE Maritime also provides a website where you can enter your vehicle information and receive an estimate of the taxes you can expect to pay, which was very helpful for planning ahead. My Experience with TOTE Maritime The entire process was handled professionally and efficiently. I dropped off my vehicle with the exact mileage documented, and when I received it in Puerto Rico, the mileage was exactly as it had been when dropped off. Even more importantly, my car arrived in the exact same condition in which I had given it to them. That gave me tremendous peace of mind, especially since this was my first time shipping a vehicle. I handed my car over on a Thursday, ahead of the Tuesday sailing. The ship departed on Tuesday, and I was able to pick up my car the following Tuesday afternoon. Considering this was my first experience shipping a vehicle, I was very pleased with how smoothly everything went. My Strongest Recommendation: If you are thinking about shipping a car to Puerto Rico and are feeling nervous or overwhelmed, my advice is simple: Contact TOTE Maritime In Jacksonville Florida and follow their instructions carefully, prepare your SURI account well in advance and have patience!!. The process is not that complicated if you have patience. TOTE Maritime will answered the calls quickly, walked you through the process step by step, will treat you with courtesy and respect, and delivered your vehicle safely and in the same condition in which you left it. I started this process feeling very apprehensive because I had never shipped a car before and I ended it feeling confident that I had made the fantastic choice. I highly recommend TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico. I was in the best hands possible, and based on my experience, I will never use anyone else to ship my car anywhere.
