Update: As you can see in the response below, TMM continues to ensure the damage did not occur due to their handling of the shipment (which is clearly note true based on the photos attached). Documentation of their handling of this claim has been noted. Formal complaints are being made with HHG shipment office on this company while the claim process is continue. Please, if TMM is assigned to your movers this PCS season, do everything you can to find an alternative. I had a horrible experience with TMM Military Moves. During my move, thousands of dollars worth of damage occurred to my household goods. Items that were in working condition prior to the move were returned broken and damaged due to improper handling and packing. What has been even more frustrating is the response afterward. I am currently working with the claims department, but they have been unwilling to take accountability for damage of items that clearly happened while my belongings were in their care, suggesting I should transfer the damage to my MCO instead of them taking blame. Never in my life have I had a move where my things were treated so poorly. I am attaching photos to this review so others can see the extent of the damage. I’m looking at all avenues to leave my review for TMM Military Moves to warn potential customers and I am working with the HHGs office to provide them my recommendation to remove TMM as a HHG contractor.
I had a military move handled by this company. They used Tailored Move moving company. They came at almost midnight and was making a whole bunch of noise disturbing my neighbors. By the time they were finished it was middle morning and I was falling asleep. I told the drivers to just assemble the bed in my room so that I had somewhere to sleep. When Military QA came the next morning, I told them everything. A Kealy Terrel from the company called and I told her what happened. She said that I refused service on site, so no new team will assist with furniture assembly. They need to team up with better companies and the military need to overhaul them completely. I would give zero stars if I could. Here today still waiting for my furniture to be assembled. Because I didn't let them continue to make a ruckus in the wee hours of the morning I "refused service" and therefore should be left to hold the bag? We need to do better.
We lost everything we own to water damage. They honestly could not care less. The only blessing is that we took a ton of pictures. Also it started raining when we were at the warehouse. We were able to capture in real time the way they treat peoples things when the down pour began via video recording. They do not care about you or your stuff. If you’re a military family DEMAND a change in move coordinators. This company is actually the worst. 16 years of moving around the world and never have we experienced anything like this. Edit to note: I saw other reviewers saying their boxes were opened and things were stolen. That happened to us too. Boxes marked as high value never even showed up. Boxes were opened, picked through and put in completely new boxes. At first I thought they were trying to hide the water damage… now I’m pretty sure we were just being robbed.
If I could give TMM zero stars, I would. I’ve been in the military for over a decade and have dealt with numerous moving companies, but I’ve never had an experience as terrible as this one. The movers completely mangled my patio furniture set. While the bench had a minor pre-existing hole (which I’ve circled in green in the photos), the damage they caused is extensive and has rendered the entire set unusable. Both chairs and the bench were in perfect working condition when they were picked up. The movers added significant damage, including a massive hole in the bench in a completely different spot (circled in red in the photos). To make matters worse, their packers lumped the entire furniture set into one line item on the inventory list, giving the impression that all the damage was pre-existing. This is beyond frustrating because the chairs were completely intact before the move, and now they’re destroyed. We also had issues with the packers themselves—teenagers who clearly had no idea what they were doing. Their careless handling and improper packing caused unnecessary damage to our belongings. Instead of taking responsibility, TMM tried to paint my family as if we were just trying to get money out of them. This couldn’t be further from the truth. I don’t care about the money—I just want my furniture fixed or replaced. But because of their negligence and refusal to acknowledge their mistakes, we’re left with nothing. Avoid this company at all costs. They are unprofessional, careless, and unwilling to take accountability for the damage they cause. Families work hard for their belongings, and it’s heartbreaking to see them treated this way. TMM should be blacklisted from handling military moves. EDIT: They claimed that the pre-existing damage made the new damage more likely to occur. However, as shown in the photo (circled in green), the pre-existing damage is on the back of the bench, while the new damage is on the seat portion, which is on the opposite side. These two sections are completely separate and consist of distinct pieces stitched together. There is no reasonable way the pre-existing damage could have contributed to the new damage. Update: The company has asked me to accept my claim on DPS after seeing this review and offering to replace it. They were so generous to have sent the check out on the 29th day of the required 30 day window by law. Once again for a professional company taking care of service members I think this one hands down out of my entire militaty career is the least professional and caring. Should be blacklisted listed from moving military members. If I were you and this company gets assigned to you by transportation I would refuse the company and have them provide you with a different one.
Throwing this out there for any future military members who get TMM as their provider. While my experience with them has been far from amazing, I understand that my move, during peak summer move cycles, played a part. Still, I don't think a company like TMM should be allowed to take on a portfolio that they cannot manage efficiently. For my move, TMM hired their own contractors to do the pickup/transit/delivery and usually had no awareness or answers when I called. This to me seemed strange. For the pickup, for one, the pickup team was late without any prior communication to me (from the TMM team). It seemed like when I called them and left a voicemail about the tardiness that it was the first time they've heard of it. After the pickup, they sent me a review survey, which I filled out (highlighting the late pickup and lack of communication from TMM). Their response, pretty much along the lines of not their responsibility as they subcontracted to a local moving company, was rather poor and underwhelming. At this point, I was perplexed as to the reasoning of why TMM was overseeing my move if they had no understanding of what was going on; and when given feedback, they deflected and instead spotlighted their subcontractors. Before the move, I had a conversation with my coordinator, and he seemed so confident (although he couldn't guarantee it, of course) of how my HHGs would arrive to my destination before I got there (July 14). On July 3, I had my HHGs picked up from Cali. On 8 July, I started my drive to VA - and arrived on July 14. My HHGs didn't leave Cali until July 18 and finally arrived on July 29. So it was nice sleeping in an empty home without any of my things for about two weeks. When receiving my HHGs, I had really hoped that all my things were in the same condition but that unfortunately wasn't the case. These damaged items were due to the result of being poorly packed.
