Food was dried out, no flavor. the pig sauce was nasty and watery, would not call a bbq suace at all. Service was poor when I picked it up. Was charged 2.49 to order from there website. asked why I was charged that and was told I was being a jerk and leave. Overall very bad service and food.
Sanitary nightmare. I am very much in the business of leaving good reviews thag hopefully boost business, and luckily, most of the places I've eaten are actually really good. Unfortunately, thats not the story here. As soon as I walked in, it was abnormally humid, which immediately concerned me for being a BBQ place. The second thing I noticed that seemed off, was the ceiling tiles were obviously spray painted black, as well as the pertruding AC vents. The reason being, considering the humidity, I immediately knew that they more than likley have a mold problem, and what better way to hide that than painting everything black. After sitting down, the single server was an older woman who was seemingly frustrated, but was nice. While waiting for my food, I noticed the AC vent was developing condensation and was dripping onto the table, again, extremely unsanitary. I managed to catch a glimpse at the thermostat on the wall that was set to 75°F, which it most definitely was much warmer, closer to 80, which had a text stuck to the wall mentioning to turn the AC off before closing. This made me slightly upset in two separate ways. 1, clearly the business cannot afford to leave the AC on overnight, which is a warning sign, and more importantly, turning the AC off overnight in florida most definitely screams MOLD! That is absolutely unacceptable, especially considering I dined in around dinner, or 2 hours past peak heat, it was humid and warm, just left me disgusted. The food came out not hot, but warm. Most likely around 90°F which is dead smack in the middle of the danger zone. The pulled pork sandwich was not only completely unseasoned, but it was dry and was obviously sitting out for possibly hours. All of the other food was much the same, and appetizers were fried, seemingly fresh, but also felt microwaved. I will say, the sauces were by far the best thing in the resturant. In order to help the extreme lack of seasoning, I grabbed the salt Shaker, and to my surprise, the salt was not moving inside the container due to being wayyyy too humid. So, I unscrewed the top and even worse, it was RUSTED SO BAD and a large clump of rusty salt fell onto my plate. Speechless. This place might just need to be closed at this point. So many warning signs and an absolute sanitation nightmare.
I absolutely would recommend this bbq joint to anyone that likes to sit down and not be bothered while having made to order home cooked quality food. My mother and I came here while getting her tire fixed at Big Tire Chief and had to wait a good minute without an appointment but would highly recommend this place as well. Talk about an amazing hole-in the wall, local BBQ spot! We were driving through Jacksonville and decided we had to try this place. I had the rib plate with Mac and cheese and collard greens. Ribs were amazing! Smoky flavor and tender! Greens were delicious! Tried the chicken and it was incredible! Definitely stop in and try this place!!
I ordered Lunch for me and my coworker. The server was very polite and courteous. The food was absolutely horrible. The ribs were dry and very cold. The Hushpuppies were awful. I spent $29 for both meals and the both of us were very disappointed. Highly recommend to avoid this place.
