The new company Falcon Property management has done an insane job at turning this property into a nice place to live. They still need to get the pool up and running but everything else is great.
I lived out here (moved last August) and loved my town home but unfortunately there were some issues that couldn't get resolved. I had the same maintenance request over and over because certain things would get fixed and then they would break again. For example my AC. I could not put my AC under 70 on cool or else it would freeze. I had nothing but issues with my AC. There were times I would have to go and stay at my father's house because the AC would go out at night and they didn't consider that an emergency. So I would have to leave my home with my kids and drive across town to stay at my father's house because my home was too hot and I would have to wait until the next morning for maintenance to come out and fix it yet again. The upstairs part of my town home was always very hot. Summer's were so brutal. To have Central AC, it just did not circulate upstairs. I literally had to buy different fans to place around my home because it just did not feel cool. I did have a cockroach problem as well. It was really bad when I first moved in but as time went on and pest control came by, they did slowly disappear and I probably only seen two a month but still gross when you keep a clean home. The main issue that had me not to renew my lease was red blood worms coming out of my upstairs bathroom drain in unit 4. Unfortunately I cannot attach a video to this review but I do have plenty of videos. We were not allowed to take a bath because somehow these small tiny red worms would come up the drain! I also used to get a lot of drain flies in my bathroom. They would typically just be hanging out on the shower tile wall. I wouldn't see them in any other part of my home but the bathroom. I feel like the drain flies and the red worms were connected some type of way. They sent a plumber out. They sent pest control out. They simply could not get rid of them. So we were stuck with having to take constant showers as the worms would not show up when you showered!!! I did reach out to corporate one time and I was given the option to get out of my lease but at the time I was going through a high risk pregnancy and I did not want the stress of trying to find a place and move when I'm trying to bring a baby into this world. At the time when they offered to break my lease without any consequence, I only had a few months left of my lease and since I had been sticking it out that long, I declined on moving but had they been able to resolve the blood worm issue and AC issues, I would've renewed. Selena was always very pleasant as the property manager and she tried her best to help the situation but unfortunately nobody knew how to get rid of the worms and that was my first time ever having to deal with anything like that in my entire life and in any apartment I've ever lived in. So if you're in unit 4, please take the time to run water in your bath tub and actually look in your water to see if there's any worms in there because I did not notice them at first because they are rather small. And if you're like my family, we do tend to use bubble bath so I didn't notice them right away. Just absolutely disgusting to think about how I didn't notice the worms before and I used to take baths with my children. My review is for two stars because as I stated, Selena was very sweet and she did do her best to try and resolve the issue with the worms.
Highlander is a really good apartments. I used to live in the neighborhood when I was younger and yes it was bad at first but things have completely changed over the years. It's more quiet, everyone stay to themselves, the manager Ms. Carla Evans will work with you if your in a bind with regards to rent. The community is so much better from 7-8 years ago, so don't be intimidated to move in because the neighborhood and apartments aren't as bad as some make them out to be. I'll say this, the best way to have a good experience out here is to just pay your rent and stay to yourself and there's nothing to worry about! :-)
Highlander apartment has really turned around over the years, this used to be the place you avoided but now it's so nice and quiet. Miss Carla is so friendly and attentive she listens to you and acts fast. I had a wasp nest near my door, called her and she had someone out here getting rid of it the next day. I'm happy to call this place home.
