stopped by with my girlfriend and was pleasantly surprised. it was our first visit. when we came in it was “seat yourself” but were greeted immediately. it was such a lovely day we decided on sitting outside to enjoy the fresh air. we were at the time frame where we could order lunch or breakfast. there were so many things to choose from and it all sounded so good. we started off with mimosas, of course! after looking at the menu we finally decided on some dishes. she chose the enzo sandwich with fries. she said it was delicious and the fries were seasoned and crispy. i chose the short rib and collards sandwich and upgraded my fries to the blue cheese chips. my sandwich was unique and very delicious! i love blue cheese chips and these were so tasty! perfect amount of cheese, sauce and balsamic, and i really like that you could get them as a side. they have them as a shareable plate as well, but as my side it was the perfect amount. we also were treated to the blue goat, a yummy blueberry bread pudding breakfast dish! i would not have normally ordered it, but it is definitely on my radar after sampling it! it was perfect!! the bread pudding had a nice crunch to the edges, it was very tasty and went perfect with the granola, strawberries and honey goat cheese on top. i also ordered the zucchini fries cause i love them and must try them every place that has them. they were good! nice cuts of zucchini, fried perfectly and the lemon aioli was superb! i will definitely be back to try other dishes!
First time here, the dining room is very nice, open, cozy with exposed brick, clean & modern. Family atmosphere on this Friday at lunchtime. Beautiful bar area, too. Looks like a fun place for happy hour. We ordered the Chicken Philly (grilled chicken, mushrooms, caramelized onions, provolone & mayo on a grilled hoagie roll) & the Roast Beef Sandwich (caramelized onions, portobello mushrooms, provolone & horseradish on grilled baguette; red wine au jus). Food took a little longer than expected. I think our server came back and said it was because we asked for fries "crispy"? We had a table next to us with a fussy baby, so it was a bit hard to hear. Once our plates arrived, at first glance it looked wonderful. Until I realized two nickle-sized chunks of something dropped out of the side of the Philly. As hard and as black as charcoal, so I opened the sandwich .... All I can say is what the heck happened here?!?! I can't imagine ANY chef, cook or expeditor looking at this plate of Armageddon and think it's fit to serve. The onions were not caramelized, they were absolutely incinerated. Bitter, completely inedible, ruined both sandwiches. If there were any type of mushrooms, they were either burnt til unrecognizable or scant in quantity. The au jus was a flavorless, oily broth and was still used because the baguette was pretty crunchy, but the flavor added nothing to the sandwich. The grilled chicken and roast beef as proteins had nice flavors and textures, so at least we had some bit of lunch, along with French fries and sweet potato chunks. The latter is on the menu as hash, but "hash" is a dish made from "finely chopped or shredded ingredients—typically a combination of meat, potatoes, and onions—fried together in a skillet until browned and crispy." These chunks were crispy with skins on, but nothing else. Still, I liked them as-is. Server was sweet as can be. Floor manager offered to re-make our food but we'd already been there a considerable amount of time and had other things to get done. We did have the Chicken Philly removed from the bill. I'm quite sure this particular experience was a big mishap, maybe they had a busboy filling in for the cook, being a holiday weekend and all. Regardless, this was a terrible first impression. We might try again sometime but it'll be awhile to get that experience out of my head.
The Local is one of those spots you end up coming back to without overthinking it. The weekday happy hour from 4 to 6 is a great deal, and the food delivers, especially the appetizers which are perfect to share. Service has always been friendly and on point without hovering. The atmosphere is what really stands out. Inside feels clean and relaxed, easy to settle into without any noise or chaos. The patio is even better. Open, comfortable, and a great place to sit with a drink and unwind. It has that easygoing, neighborhood feel where you can hang out, enjoy the moment, and not feel rushed.
Deliciousness! Just Deliciousness. I ordered the Gumby's bowl and Deluxe toast. This was the breakfast that made my whole week. The artichoke dip is the best I ever had. I want to say that I've tried about 20 different ones over the course of 15 years. The sausage was fantastic and they have those eggs that hug the tongue and cuddle the stomach. I was just switching between both bowls. They have great breakfast.
I actually never expect much at restaurants and ever take pics of my food. They earned it. The best spinach artichoke dip we have ever eaten anywhere. No kidding. Full stop it’s the legit best. The burger patty is juicy and over sized. The steak pasta is cooked to temp perfectly. These guys deserve some serious love from the community.
