We enjoyed getting our coffee here with pastries and pie, all our delicious. The Honey Badger coffee is a must try, we tried it iced and hot , I love the iced version better but either way, they’re divine. love the fact that we can enjoy our meal without being in a hurry. This is a must visit whenever you are in St. Augustine, Florida.
We came for the Aussie pies and were a bit underwhelmed. The drinks were great but they initially forgot we ordered hot chocolate in addition to our cappuccino. They made up for it with a $5 discount card for our next visit, classy. The Aussie pies are very much like a traditional meat pie in that they are dense and a bit dry. We did not try the offered hot sauce. I feel like it needed some cheese, creaminess, or gravy texture to balance the texture and flavors. Worthwhile experience overall but next time we will stick to drinks ac other pastries. Enjoy.
f you live in St Aug, you know The Kookaburra. This morning we hit up the downtown location…what a spot! I’m a drip coffee guy 99% of the time, but at Kook my go-to order is verbatim: “Small hot Aussie (hot), half sweet, in a to-go cup, dairy’s OK.” I love Kook because they changed the coffee game in St Augustine all those years ago when they were brave enough to set up shop downtown in their original little shop. They paved the way! Plus their branding and culture is just so, so good.
The staff was friendly and helpful but the coffee…. Let’s put it this way. Is below average. I had the flat white on the16oz. The coffee taste was watered even after added an other shot of espresso. The milk they used also very watery. It made the cup taste very water down flat white and doesn’t have the typical cream texture and the balance that flat white normally has. My hubby order the honey cinnamon latte it tastes very sweet and lack of the coffee flavor as well. Two coffees cost about $15. I get it, is the tourist spot but at least could make the coffee taste better by choosing a better quality coffee beans. A very disappointing visit
They have a fairly new location where it’s right down the street from where it used to be. It’s much larger inside. Vibe is fine but nothing special. Service is good and friendly. Prices are typical for a coffee shop.
