The Waterworks venue is providing homes for arts organizations that were searching for a home. I like the analogy of a coocoo bird. Before the Waterworks, groups like A Classic Theatre and Ancient City Poets, set-up shop in borrowed spaces. We would find a coffee shop, a movie theatre, or a gift shop and call it our home for a year or two. Now local art organization have a real deal home base to set up shop and network, instead of being like “Brigadoon” and enchanting a space every one or twice a month and then disappear into the ether. We are now on a list of regularly scheduled events at the Waterworks. Downtown finally has a place where the public can go to lean about poetry, catch a play, and soaking a lecture, class, or workshop.
Outstanding programs and services for the fine arts and performance in St. Johns County, Fla. Excellent management of the nonprofit.
