St. Augustine Wild Reserve

They are amazing! It is so obvious that they love each of the animals in their care. The animals come up to the volunteers eager for scratches and treats. I also love that they clearly place the well-being of their animals higher than the wants of anyone in the tour. There were several enclosures that were omitted because the inhabitants are leary of humans and others where the animals didn't want to come out and none were forced to interact with humans. A word of warning: when the guide tells you that the male tiger will spray you, they are being serious. Give him a wide berth. He can spray up to 20ft and several of our tour group learned the hard way. There are no photos allowed during the tour, but for $10 you can get a flash drive with nearly 500 that are much closer and better than anything you may have gotten through the cages. Some cages seem small, but are filled with enrichment and the animals get interaction and affection daily. And honestly, living in a smallish cage with loving care is better than the alternative that would face these rescued animals. We went to the zoo and here and would recommend here if you can only do one. You never get such a close experience with any animal at the zoo and this supports a great cause.

A wonderful afternoon outing. Better than any animal experience or zoo I've ever been to. Extremely clean, incredible staff, and worth admission price. These animals are taken care of with incredible amount of knowledge and love. No photography allowed yet a smart and respectful choice. I applaud the rule as it made the experience more enjoyable and immersive. For those complaining about no photos, you decided to do the tour knowing this or you didn't read it posted EVERYWHERE) so no one's fault but your own ;)

I loved this place. Our tour guide was truly awesome very charismatic and charming. Its a very good mission they got going on where they take care of exotic animals which would be euthanized if it wasnt for them willing to have them. This place needs lots of support. If you are in St Augustine or near by make sure to pass by and say hello.

I cannot recommend a visit to this reserve enough. My family booked a private tour for our trip to St Augustine and it was the highlight of our trip. This organization truly cares about the wellbeing of the animals it cares for and it shows in their knowledge of their animals, their rehabilitation efforts, and the obvious connection and trust the staff have built with the animals that live here. We learned so much and left getting to feel a little bit of that connection. Deborah made coordinating the tour a breeze and Sam was an exceptional guide for us. If you’re an animal lover like we are you will not be disappointed, and you will support a fantastic organization in the process.
