Let me start by saying there are a lot of stairs- I’m sure other reviews have mentioned that. You might look up and be like “that’s not that bad” you may walk by people resting on landings and be like “couldn’t be me” These stairs will humble you - you will question why you decided to do this especially if you do it on a 90* day We went in June and it’s October - I still have vivid memories of the stairs. Other than that- it’s beautiful, historical, and a nice museum. I’m sure it’s wonderful when the weather is cooler. Despite the stairs, I will be returning this week and it prompted me to leave this review to warn anyone who might be thinking that the stairs are easy 😂 PS - there is food here and there is nothing better than a hot dog after all that lol
Really cool lighthouse and amazing views when you reach the top. Don't do it if you are afraid of heights! We did the twilight tour. It was great , but if I could do it again I would just do the regular tou. The Twilight tour does not include a tour of the lightkeeper's house. It is a tad more expensive too. The gift shop actually has a lot of interesting and inexpensive gifts. Overall, great experience. Oh...don't forget the bug spray or bug repellent wipes.
Great time. Family loved the views and history surrounding the lighthouse and keepers. It's still a functioning lighthouse too, which is cool. Plus they are keeping boat building alive by having demos and hand made boats to check out, which fits perfectly with the maritime theme. Lighthouse is 165 feet tall and 219 steps to get to top/observation deck, so be aware, in case stairs aren't your friend. ;) Definitely worth a visit and check out the gift shop for some cool mementos.
This place is AWESOME. It is so much cooler than I expected! Walking up to the top of the lighthouse was incredibly fun, with amazing views, but their museum and play area was SO well put together and fun to explore, too! We had ages 1-65 in our group and literally everyone loved being there; there's definitely something for everyone! The little walking trails were really beautiful, as well. Highly recommend!
It is well worth the tour. Climb up to the top of the light house. There are landing to rest if need. Great view and windy. The light house keeper tour is very informative.
