The entire site is nicely designed, there are many different attractions such as the Oldest Store and Jail Museum and the Gator Bob Giftshop next to this History Museum. This building and museum itself is very nicely designed but also a bit quirky - somehow typically American - and seems to be a bit old. But it offers on very (!) small space a lot of information about the history of St. Augustine. Unfortunately, the railway at the end of the exhibition did not work. Admission was included in the trolley tour - otherwise we probably wouldn’t have gone in. I think if you do the trolley tour you can visit it, but if you have to pay admission it’s not really worth it.
We were probably one of the few people who paid for this museum experience (given that it's included with the nearby trolley tour ticket) and although it's a neat little museum, I don't think its worth it if you are just doing it by itself. Its a very small museum that walks through the various points of St. Augustine's history. There's some good theming throughout but it can get very packed and crowded. There also wasn't really anybody checking tickets so you could pretty much just walk in for free, which is unfortunate since we already paid for the ticket. If you are doing the trolley tour, then it's definitely worth a walk through.
The St. Augustine History Museum packs a lot into its small space and provides a great outline of St. Augustine history from prior European contact up through its early settlement. It has a lot of artifacts on display and the placards are well written and succinct. I don't know that I would pay to go in but admission is included if you buy a ticket for the trolley.
We bought the tickets there with no wait. Stella at Jail museum and uncle Vince at the old history were phenomenal. They put us back in time explaining everything and displaying neat artifacts from the 1800s. The troll around the city is a little redundant and it takes 1:45 to go trough 22 stops. You can’t stop and enjoy wine, liquor distillery and take the next trolly. Make sure to get the sticker on your shirt. It’s a pretty neat little town with lots of history. There is a sand lot Parking next door, so it provides enough space if you are driving. Half of the tour is the downtown , so you can walk and adventure yourself. Def will recommend it to friends and family
Loved this little museum that was included with my Trolley Tour of St. Augustine. There are several cute displays of southern life, historical photos and offerings. We found the translations of Southern slang in the restrooms real entertaining too! This is worth your time before or after your trolley tour. There's a great souvenir shop attached too! The price of a fountain soda was very high and didnt taste good, make another choice!
