I have been wanting to try Caribbean food, but wasn't sure where to go for the first time. We tried the Ackee and Saltfish, Curry goat, Ox Tail, fried chicken, Mac n Cheese, cabbage, the rice with beans, a kola, and spicy beef patties on warm coco bead. I will absolutely be back often; EVERYTHING was incredible!!!
Food and drinks were great, wish the hot patties had some more heat to them. Ox tail was full of flavour and the rice and peas was near perfection, definitely bringing more people next time for sure. Make sure to get a smoothie, amazing!
I previously held a high regard for Spices. However, I am uncertain if there has been a change in ownership or management. The quality of the food has noticeably declined. I ordered the curry chicken and fried chicken meal, and both dishes were overcooked and dry. I am profoundly disappointed, as this establishment was once among my preferred dining options in Jacksonville. As your business continues to expand, I urge you to maintain a steadfast focus on quality.
Went here for the first time with my husband. A friendly gentleman greeted and explained very kindly about the menu. The food came out so quick and super hot fresh cooked. The oxtail my husband had was very soft and nicely cooked. The veggie plate that I got was well seasoned. The portion side was big. The eating area was very clean and well maintained. Overall we were very satisfied with it. My half Jamaican husband approved! haha
A couple of co-workers talked this place up....and I see why. From the time they said welcome in, I felt just that. The register attendant who was very kind and patient, explained their dishes to me, I didnt feel rushed. He also recommended other menu items I might enjoy. The place is super clean and seemed very well run. The portions were generous and tasted good. Thank you Spices for making my first visit pleasantly memorable.
