Finally had a chance to try out Smalls Sliders. Overall I thought it was pretty good, I also liked the fries more than I thought I would since I typically don’t like seasoned fries. The sliders were a good size. I also thought the prices were very reasonable. Overall definitely worth trying if you like burgers. I do wish they had indoor seating. I don’t typically like taking my burgers and fries to go since it always better in my opinion when you can eat them when they are hot and fresh, and outside seating in Florida isn’t really ideal since a majority of the year it’s just too hot and humid. Give them a try 👍🍔
My visit was on Saturday, the day after their opening. The line seemed long, but from the time I got in line to food in my car was only 21 minutes. Service was great, everyone was so nice. Food, 10/10. Burgers were perfect, fries are honestly the best I've had in a LONG time and the Key Lime Pie Milkshake well that's the cherry on top. It was so good. Family of 4, 1 kids meals, 2 orders of the 2 burger meals, and 1 order of the 4 burg meal, subbed 2 drinks for shakes and the total was right at $49. We look at it as a treat and honestly we can't wait to go back!!
Smalls Sliders Delivers a Big First Impression in St. Johns There is always excitement surrounding a restaurant's grand opening, but when Susan and I pulled into Smalls Sliders on County Road 210 in St. Johns, we quickly realized this opening was operating on a different level. The drive-thru line stretched nearly twenty cars deep. For many people, that might be enough to turn around and try another day. Instead, we settled in and watched what was happening around us. What impressed us immediately wasn't just the crowd. It was how efficiently the Smalls team was handling it. This is not a traditional sit-down restaurant. Smalls is a fast-food drive-thru concept with a small outdoor seating area designed for guests who want to enjoy their meal on-site. The real focus is speed, convenience, and quality food delivered quickly. Despite the grand opening rush, the line moved surprisingly well, and the team never appeared overwhelmed. While waiting, we learned that NFL legend Drew Brees is one of the owners behind the concept. While many people know him for his Hall of Fame football career, we've long admired him for his leadership, charitable work, and business success. Seeing his name attached to the brand certainly increased our curiosity. After making our way through the line, we ordered a variety of menu items, including the Biggie Smalls burger with bacon, a regular slider combo, fries, queso dip, special sauce, and milkshakes. Since it was a warm Florida afternoon, we decided to take everything home and conduct our official Culinary Duo taste test there. The first thing we noticed was the fries. Or perhaps more accurately, how quickly they disappeared. By the time we arrived home, Susan and I had already eaten nearly half of them during the drive. They were crispy, perfectly seasoned, and impossible to resist. The burgers delivered another surprise. Based on the name "Smalls," we expected tiny sliders similar to White Castle. That assumption disappeared the moment we opened the box. These burgers are substantial. The Biggie Smalls featured double patties, double cheese, and bacon, creating a burger that was filling, flavorful, and significantly larger than anticipated. In fact, we ordered more food than we needed because we underestimated the portion sizes. Fortunately, Apollo, our 120-pound German Shepherd, was more than happy to help with quality control on one of the leftover burgers. The queso dip offered creamy texture with a noticeable kick from peppers. Parents ordering for younger children should know it carries a little heat. Adults who enjoy a bit of spice, however, will likely appreciate the extra flavor. The special sauce created the only difference of opinion during the meal. Susan enjoyed it quite a bit, while Peter found one of the flavors a little overpowering. That's one of the benefits of reviewing as a duo. Different perspectives often provide a more balanced assessment. The true standout was the Key Lime Milkshake. Smooth, creamy, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, it managed to deliver the bright citrus flavor of key lime without becoming overly sweet. It immediately became the most memorable item we sampled. For that reason, the Key Lime Milkshake earns our Culinary Duo Best of the Best Dish Award, a recognition reserved for dishes that genuinely distinguish themselves from the competition. What ultimately stood out most about Smalls was its execution. Handling a twenty-car drive-thru line on opening day is no small task, yet the team maintained efficiency, friendly service, and food quality throughout the process. For anyone looking for a convenient burger stop, a quick family meal, or simply a great milkshake, Smalls Sliders is worth adding to your list. Final Rating: ★★★★☆ (4 Stars) Best of the Best Dish Award: Key Lime Milkshake
Amazing ! That’s the best way to describe it . . . I actually sat on patio and didn’t use the drive thru - The staff is super friendly and helpful guiding me through the menu burgers are so dang good, the loaded fries . . . OMG !! These are amazing must have Really good portion size for how low the price was . . . Definitely coming back next time i pass through this area . . . WOW !
Honestly thought this would be another burger place with a mid level burger created by “two men with a CRAZY idea”. It was much better. Got the biggie smalls. Perfect portion for the price. The waffle fries are elite, surpasses chick-fil-a. I will add this to the rotation. Keep it up.
