Shut Em Down is a very charming restaurant, from the nice old school Jax atmosphereto the wonderful staff and can’t forget the delicious food. From when we arrived to when we left it took us about 40 mins to get our food to go which is definitely long but understandable when the establishment is making everything from scratch. I had the Smothered pork chop and my gf had the pot roast. Both were very flavorful and comforting without being too heavy. I definitely wish we received a little more pot roast but my girlfriend was satisfied so can’t complain. The sides were definitely some standout hits. The Mac and Cheese and Yams definitely tasted like somebody’s grandma was back there making it! I believe Shut ‘Em down should be on every Jax residents radar if you’re looking for a delicious, comforting, and affordable meal!
Absolutely delicious. I ordered the pot roast with mashed potatoes, baked beans and mac n chz. Seriously the best baked beans and mac n chz ive ever had. The pot roast was equally as good as the sides. Came out hot and fresh. Oh and the cornbread was sooo good!! Staff were very friendly! Cant wait to go back for more soul food
We're so glad we stopped in and tried this restaurant when we were passing through. The food was delicious with decent sized portions. The food came out quickly and was fresh. My husband and I got the smothered pork chops and Mac, mashed pots, rice and collards. All was delicious and perfectly seasoned. The Sweet tea was perfectly sweetened and fresh. The tea urns are obviously cleaned thoroughly and regularly (IYKYK). The cleanliness of the establishment was on point, over all. My son loved the fried chicken and Mac. The staff was very friendly and anticipated our needs and came to the table to offer refills which was a thoughtful and appreciated touch since orders are taken at the counter. Overall we had a great experience and will be back on our next trip to JAX.
✨First time visiting Shut Em Down.... truly authentic southern soul food reasonably priced. I ordered a veggie plate ( select 3 vegetables). Mom ordered ribs with Mac n cheese. Both dishes were filling. Ribs were very tender and falling off the bone. Cornbread was sweet and tasty. I was very impressed with the young professionals working at the register. They were very hospitable with good attitudes.
Let me first state the i like this restaurants food , but their overall customer service needs a lot of work. My wife and i had a taste for their dinner today. We tried to order online. they were not accepting online orders. We tried calling and received a message that party called was busy and could not answer. My wife decided to drive anyway to get our food. We live by the airport so this is not a short drive, When she arrived, there was sign in the door that says they were closed from March 23- March 30. In west days of technology, would be too much to ask that this be shared on their website, or on their phone. This is not the first time this has happened. It will be the last though. I will not share and positive toughts about this place with others, and it ever be a late choice for my family. I hope they learn to do better, but we will be back anytime soon
