Is the working headquarters of the Florida National Guard. The building is historical and contains a small museum. Allison, the civilian historical officer gave a great tour to my group of retirees about the building, site, and museum. It was very fascinating.
I've been here a few times, the historical significance is amazing though. I retired from the FL National Guard and at one time was offered the SR Enlisted housing. I had too many dogs for that at the time, LOL. Anyway, if you have a chance to visit, it won't disappoint! The original foundation room is pretty amazing. They even have a B-17 bombsight (which was highly classified, and pivotal to the Allied victory!) Right across from the country's oldest house. Across the street is a garage looking area that used to be the bakery. Don't pass up an opportunity to visit St Augustine as a whole! You won't be disappointed!
My granddaughter was sworn there for the Air National Guard during a special ceremony. It was magnificent. Right on the water. The history was amazing the structure very much old St Augustine. The staff and military personnel were extraordinary. A special salute to the two star General who did swearing in and the Colonel our host.
I have been to St Augustine many times but never ventured to the south end of marine street. Really enjoyed reading all the plaques along the street. Seeing the cannons and reading about the rich history of the city and the barracks was something special. Thanks to all who have served and continue to protect our home land. 🇺🇸
Me and my co worker Morris walked to the Florida National Guard to ask them if they would attend a surprise birthday party for one of our regular guests who turned 99 years old. Bill Manley was super supportive by sending an email out to the troops and showing up the very next day. It was a last minute idea and we appreciate you making it happen. Thank you for all you do!
