Loved the experience!!!!! Been thru many KY Bourbon experiences and this one ranked up there! From Kevin and Ian welcoming us , to Mike leading us thru the tasting experience, to Patrick helping me bottle my own 1776 ( which I was happily surprised at the cost of this experience) and finally to Karen in the gift shop being so helpful made it a fabulous experience!! I found the gift shop merchandise and bottles comparable if not better to other distillery tours I have been to. My husband and I had a Great time! Thank you!!
We were recommended this spot by a local due to the self guided tour and tasting being free. They have a parking lot on site. They also have a restaurant on site so look for the distillery entrance. Everyone needs an ID here, they scan every ID. You get a wristband and you can read the signs along the way, They have 3 different stations and 4 different tastings. These tastings are the spirit mixed in as a cocktail in a small shot glass. The first station is vodka with a mixer, they second station has gin with a mixer, and rum with a mixer, and they last station is at the bar in the gift shop with bourbon and a mixer. All of the bartenders were fantastic, friendly, and informative. At the last stop, you can even ask for some more samples of the other liquors that were not on the tasting stops, so we tried the stone rum as well (you just have to know to ask and they will pour you a tiny bit). The gift shop has all of the spirits, as well as the mixers that go with them, which is handy for a gift set. They also have a paid experience which is kind of like a guided informational tasting session where you sit down and go over the distilling process in more detail and get larger spirit samples. I think that was like $35 or $45 a person. Overall I would recommend this as a budget friendly option that is fun and interesting too!
We saw that the tasting was only $5 per person and couldn't pass it up as a cheap and easy thing to do while in St. Augustine. We stopped in unexpectedly, signed in without any trouble, and were done in under a half hour. It helped that it wasn’t crowded at all and our group of 5 were the only ones on the tasting tour at the time. You get to taste 4 different cocktails made with their various products. The first two were decent, with the second being a step up from the first. The third was our favorite by far, a tiki rum cocktail that actually had a really nice flavor to it. The fourth and final one was a straight vodka pour from an older woman at the last station. She told us that good vodka shouldn't taste like nail polish, which is a bold thing to say right before handing someone a sample that tasted pretty much exactly like acetone. A couple of us couldn't even finish it. The staff overall were super friendly though, and it was genuinely cool getting to go behind the scenes and see all the big machinery in the distillery. Now the gift shop at the end is a different story. Everything was overpriced, and their clearance section was almost insulting, with maybe $2 knocked off the regular prices. We won't be buying any of their products, but for $5 the tasting itself was a fun little experience worth checking out if you're in the area.
It was such a pleasure experiencing a local gem like the St. Augustine Distillery. From the moment we arrived, the host at the register was incredibly informative and welcoming. Every bartender we interacted with was friendly and made the experience even more enjoyable. We also took a bourbon class, and the instructors were fantastic—knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely pleasant. I was truly impressed by the quality of the bourbons we sampled. They also offer rum and whiskey, so there’s a great variety of spirits to try. Overall, we had an amazing time and can’t wait to go back! 🍷😉✨
We did the $35 tour and enjoyed the class and distillery very much. Melody was very informative and the sampling of bourbon was very tasty. Here is a pic of what they offered in the class instruction. If we are ever in St. Augustine again, we would definitely go back.
