We had a great experience at Playa Chac-Mool in St. Augustine Beach! We wanted to skip the chain restaurants and support a local family-owned (“mom and pop”) business, and we’re so glad we did. Our waitress, Shauri, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Her hospitality really made us feel at home and added so much to our experience. The food was very good, the atmosphere was relaxed, and it was exactly the kind of local spot we were hoping to find. If you’re in the area and looking to support a local business with warm service and good food, we’d definitely recommend giving Playa Chac-Mool a try. Thanks, Shauri, for making our visit such an enjoyable one!
Finally found an amazing Mexican restaurant! We’ve eaten here several times and it’s always been so delicious, exactly as we ordered, and not too salty at all. Fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas have all been amazing, and they’ve been great about leaving off cheese for those of us that are dairy free.
We were looking for Mexican to eat. Found this place not far from our hotel. Its small family owned restaurant. The food is excellent. Service is excellent. If you like cozy laid back atmosphere this is it. Theres a gentleman here this evening jamming out with a guitar and he knows how to play it. Definitely will be back.
Me and my wife were in St. Augustine for a couple of days and wanted some Mexican food, so we chose this place based on the good reviews. It was a little surprising that they charge for chips and salsa. I ordered the Chicken Chac Mool and really liked it. The sauce had good flavor, even though there was more sauce than chicken. My wife got the plain cheese enchilada combo and wasn’t happy with it (the sauce), so overall we felt a three was fair.
Very friendly staff. Medium-smallish menu, but really nice choices. I prefer a smaller menu of thoughtfully created good/great items over a 4 page menu of meh/good items, ya know? Loved the guac. All 4 of us really enjoyed our dishes: al pastor quesadilla (forgot the name), taco bowl, enchiladas ALL yummy. We were pleasantly surprised by the quite reasonable bill, so I'd call this a win. We'll recommend. We'll be back.
