  When the school becomes the bully. I’ll try to keep this short, but I’m beyond furious. I really didnt want to go this route, but I just want to make sure no one else goes through this sort of frustration, and I’m looking for new recommendations, if I can recover any of the funds stolen from us. Last year I lost my father, my business, my close friend, and myself. My girl was struggling to connect, and the school kept pushing us to enroll her into more days, but it just wasn’t in the budget. She would cry after every drop off, and we had a couple of conferences that felt a bit bullish, but I started working with her on catching her up, and we made some pretty big milestones. She’s potty trained, can count to 15, knows her ABCs, her colors, speaks in four to five word sentences, and is getting smarter everyday. Then around the holiday weekend, we get an email saying that she would be held back to the 2s class, but that’s not what we signed up for. We explained her progress, and asked that she be evaluated, they said the classes were full, and on July 11th, a quick “they had room”, with no clarification. But that just meant in the 2s class. We discussed it, and it makes no sense for her to be turning four this November, to be with a class of two year olds, when this is her last year of preschool before VPK. She’s been hanging out with my friends kids who are 5 & 7, and has been rapidly improving. On July 25th we wrote that we made the decision to not attend Melrose, and we’re hoping to get back the $500 deposit. They then responded that she would be REQUIRED an evaluation, and that the deposit wouldn’t be returned because we didn’t notify them by July 5th, but we didn’t know that they would be holding her back at that point. I’m not paying a school $85/hr for her progress to be stifled. They also said that out of the kindness of their heart, they wouldn’t charge us for August-October, as stated in their contract, but they sure charged us the $685 for the month of August. We emailed them about the charge, didn’t hear back, said that she’d be in planning August 4-6, but the meet and greet is planned for today, so I called the office twice, and no answer. Tried messaging through the procare app, but we were logged out of the system. So no first day of school pictures for us, we are out almost $1,200, and no answers. I’ve called the office multiple times, emailed them several, and still haven’t received any answers. I’m planning on filing through small claims court. Thanks, Melrose. Glad its about the well being of the children, and not the money.
