I brought my son to this appointment specifically to receive the meningococcal vaccine, which I had also confirmed when the appointment was scheduled. Instead, Dr. Joyner ordered Tdap, even though my son had already received Tdap approximately two months earlier and it was documented in his medical record. The vaccine was administered by a medical assistant without showing me or identifying the vaccine beforehand. Afterward, Dr. Joyner told me my son still needed the meningococcal vaccine. When I explained that was the vaccine we had come for, he told me that Tdap had been administered instead. I specifically asked him whether my son had been given a vaccine he did not need because he had already received it two months earlier, and he confirmed that he had. As a parent, this experience caused me to lose confidence in the care provided and in the process used to review medical records and verify vaccines before administration.
