Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens

The animals were amazing. Once it got hot they were all napping or in the shade so going first thing is a priority. We really enjoyed the enclosures and talked about how they compare to other zoos we have been to. We noticed a lot of little details in each one that were a nice touch. None of the animals seemed stressed or spent time pacing.

Great zoo! Lots of trees for shade throughout. Several animals close to glass. We were able to feed a giraffe since it was at the platform. Train ride was nice to get to the other side. Would be nice if they had chips or more kid choices available at the grill. Would recommend strollers or wagons for kids with all the walking.

We went in late June and many of the animals were resting because of the heat. The animals were very spread out so there was quite a bit of walking between exhibits where my grandson got bored. We did allow him the ability to choose where we went and guide our day, which really helped him have more fun. The splash zone was nice to see, but the line was long so we didn't get to enjoy it. However, I really appreciated that they had water refill stations throughout there zoo at no charge. It was a nice day. I loved watching the wonder on his face when kids were feeding the giraffes! That was one of the best moments for me. However, when the monkey game to sit next to him by the glass and they looked like they were having a conversation, that was cool for everyone around. For our 2 year old grandson, he will say the best part was talking to the monkey!

I had a an awesome experience. The staff were very pleasant. The plants and exhibits were very well maintained. I was impressed you almost forgot that you are in Jacksonville because the jungle is so Lucious! The dining and gift shops are very clean too. Family and children friendly. I was happy that it was very much handicapped accessible too.
