Everyone is so nice & pleasant to be around. Best of all Dr C takes necessary time to genuinely listen to her patients. We don’t feel like just numbers in this office. Thank you so much ladies!!!
If you are a Veteran and was set up with the Kingsley Office via the VA or VA Community Care, cancel your appointment and request someone else. Dr. Gerard Gerling has issues with Veterans and / or people who have ailments that are service connected. Never in my life have I ever been treated so horribly, berated, talked down, and if he asked you questions and I picked up my phone to open the VA app to get said requested information I was scolded like a two year about to touch a hot stove. This man had no intentions of ever hearing anything I had to say. If I even mentioned the slightest criticism of how something was done by another doctor he would scolded me even harder. I waited 4 months for this appointment, couldn't wait to have it only to be treated as a criminal, the appointment was more of an interrogation then trying to figure out what was wrong with me. By time the hour long interrogation was over, I wanted to end it all then to continue dealing with this situation. I called the main office today requesting the HR dept, had to speak with an office manager who after hearing my complaint could only say " Sorry you were dissatisfied ". One can only think if he treats clients like this, how does he treat the staff. And I should also add, no doctor should position themselves between you and the door so you can't get up to leave. Nobody should be forced to go through what I had to deal with, with this man.
Been with Island Doctors for quite a long time now always have had great care through them despite the fact that I've had several different doctors throughout the years but all have been good
I would give zero stars if that were an option. I was forced to switch from commercial insurance to a Medicare Advantage HMO. While I still had my commercial PPO, I had already scheduled cardiology and ENT appointments; however, they were booked more than 30 days out. When my Medicare coverage began on October 1, 2025, I could no longer see my original PCP and had to establish care with a new primary doctor under my new insurance. My husband accompanies me to my appointments. He has leukemia and is immunocompromised due to an unsuccessful bone marrow transplant, requiring him to wear a mask for protection. Despite the fact that he was not a patient, doctors questioned his medical condition. When I explained his diagnosis, we were treated rudely and dismissively. His medical condition is not their business. I requested two referrals that were required for my cardiology and ENT appointments. I am a “widow-maker” heart patient and live in a constant state of anxiety due to my husband’s 3–6 month prognosis, along with the recent loss of my son and my mother to cancer. Despite this, the doctors refused to provide the referrals and failed to clearly inform me, so I kept the specialist appointments in good faith. I repeatedly followed up about the referrals and was given excuse after excuse. Eventually, I was screamed at and argued with over the phone by Shelby. I understand insurance processes well and have worked in the medical field myself. Shelby was extremely unprofessional, lacked empathy, and demonstrated poor ethical judgment. Her behavior left me hysterical right before my husband’s blood transfusion appointment. I was later told referrals could not be issued because they did not have my cardiology records. I was also refused my Entresto, a critical heart medication, pending bloodwork and records—despite repeatedly requesting it, only then it was prescribed after being off for weeks. I ultimately printed and delivered my own medical records to the office in an effort to speed things up. This made no difference. I went without my medication and never received the referrals. Regarding ENT care, Dr. Concepcion ordered a CT scan of my sinuses. I had already included a CT head scan(w/o sinuses )in the records I provided. While I was speaking with the medical assistant at the front desk, Dr. Concepcion overheard the conversation, became rude, and rolled her eyes at me. I had informed the office back in October that I suffer from migraines related to mold exposure. Bottom line: I strongly warn Medicare patients to avoid this clinic. You will struggle to obtain referrals for pre-existing conditions, even when medically necessary. Poor listening skills. The providers were argumentative, dismissive, and caused significant emotional distress during an already devastating period in my life. The only way I could get peace was to change my insurance and return to my previous PCP. I literally refused to return and waited until January 1, 2026. The only positive experience I had was with the front desk staff during check-in and check-out, who were kind and genuinely tried to help. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS CLINIC!! My thoughts are to give no referrals to keep all claims flooding their clinic for financial reasons.
Everyone at this office has such a caring heart. Dr Concepcion is very smart and is on top of her game. Won’t go to anyone else.
