I had my wedding here last month and will attach photos if possible. Pros: The floors and lighting are beautiful. There’s plenty of space for guests. You’re free to bring in your own vendors. Parking is much better than downtown Jacksonville. The all-day rental is a great value for the price. Cons: Unfortunately, there were several issues that left me disappointed — mostly related to lack of transparency and poor preparation. I was told that if there wasn’t another event the day before my wedding, I could use the venue for a rehearsal. However, when I reached out a few weeks prior, I was told I’d need to pay half the rental rate just to use the space for one or two hours. That important detail wasn’t communicated upfront. I was also told they were renovating the gazebo area, and that if it was completed in time, we could hold the ceremony there. Once the renovation was approved, I was suddenly told it would cost an extra $500. Again — this should’ve been disclosed earlier. The venue was not clean when we arrived. My husband had to take out the trash and blow leaves from the outdoor area. Our friends and family had to sweep the floors. It appeared that the cleaning crew had not prepared the space at all before our arrival. To their credit, they did quickly refund the cleaning fee, which I appreciated. The grounds could be better maintained. The landscaping looked neglected and could have used more attention before such an important event.
My husband and I rented the parlor room to have a very small baby shower with about 20 people and it came out lovely! The sweet ladies, who work here are very accommodating and provide tables and allow you to come prematurely to plan your set up if needed. If I ever needed to rent somewhere in the future, I would definitely come back here!
It was a nice hall. The restroom situation is a problem though, not enough toilets which will Always be a situation when there's a lot of people at a gathering. Big Problem! 😭
We had rented this space initially for a 50 year anniversary party. Sadly, we had to shift to a Celebration of Life event. With the initially planned guest count at 65 - doubling to 130… I was a little nervous about parking and venue size. This location actually held everyone very comfortably. And the street parking was actually very reasonable. We were also blessed with a lot of help in the kitchen - the kitchen layout was perfect for everyone helping to have a space to work. And the cleaning fee - SO worth it.
Had a Chamber of Commerce meeting at the OPWC and it was a great space. The newly renovated garden was perfect for an outdoor event, with a stone paver walkway & patio area, and even had a nice gazebo. The inside was a nice space also with a full kitchen area. I would highly recommend you putting this space on your short list to check out for your next event.
