This was a great stop. The facilities were fantastic. The pool was clean asks perfect temperature. The bathrooms were updated and clean. Not exactly private showers but not the worst. The site was beautiful! We experienced a first time moment in 6 years of summer road trips. When we arrived we found broken glass under our picnic table. It was a reminder to look over the campground before settling in.
We love the atmosphere and vibe at Flamingo Lake’s cafe! It’s right on the lake with awesome views. We come up for karaoke nights. The staff is great! Jenni took our orders. Melody always takes such GREAT care of us at the tables! Alicia, Katie and Scott put on great karaoke shows! Always a fun and relaxed crowd too! Come on out and have a great time!
Love this place i here 3 months at a time go out for a month and come back. Beautiful lake and lake house for food fantastic pool. The Rv park its self feels more like a little community then just a random place to stay. I will say tho, just a fair warning that is outside of the control is the surrounding area is not the best. But it doesn't seem to effect this place being a quiet place and a safe place. Would definitely recommend you coming here to check it out!
We have been visiting and staying at Flamingo Lake for over 20 years. We stayed over the past 4th of July weekend and the new manager was very rude. We were in the annual golf cart parade l, usually consists of water gun wars. We were about to end the parade when he came next to us yelling through a bull horn to stop the water. The only people holding a water gun were my 2 grandsons 6 and 8 years old. They weed both were upset. There was no call fo that behavior. He could have just asked is to stop. This could have also been communicated earlier and we would not have taken the water guns. He walked around most of the weekend announcing through his bull horn about parking passes etc. This tye of behavior was uncalled for. Kindness and customer service goes along way. Most all of the other staff were great.
My wife and I have stayed at other Sun outdoors and they seem to have a lot of comfort stations throughout their Parks. This one, however, at flamingo lake does not which means it doesn't really support anybody who's in a van life. They have one comfort station and they shut that comfort station down at 9:00 a.m. and for a while after 10am on Sunday when everybody's checking out by 11:00 closing up their campers with no bathroom available if they need to go before they leave. We're not real sure what time they open as we left before they opened . Also other Sun outdoors have let us check at 12:00 but flamingo lake wanted $30 for early check-in. When nobody was on the site and it was ready they said they had to look it over. Well, the majority of rvers clean their site. It's usually ready to go every single time. It's a rare time that a site wouldn't be ready before check-in, so I thought that was pretty cheesy and would make me not want to go there again. There is a cafe on site, however when we went down Sunday morning for breakfast before checkout as most people are packing up their campers and really don't want to dirty things up to cook and have to be out by 11:00. The cafe doesn't open until 11:00 on Sunday. Originally we were told breakfast starts at 9:00 a.m. each day. So apparently there's a miscommunication. We would also like to point out that the location is not very good. You get everybody racing on the on-ramp to 295 out of Jacksonville all hours of the night all day long. Also, the road that cuts right in front of the campground seems to be a nice little race track for cars and motorcycles all day. And let's not forget the airport down the road. Firing up the jet engines early in the morning is a great eye-opener . So picking your spot wisely as far away from all the roadways is going to be very crucial and close enough to the bath house should you need that luxury as well. The front staff didn't seem very happy. We were staying with friends there as well and they said the same exact thing that the front staff was not very friendly seemed as if we were a burden checking in. Not sure why that is. Every other place has been great. The pool is great. Nice setup. Nice layout. Lots of kids. Very shallow so it's perfect for kids. The pond was great. Fishing on site. When the cafe was open it was pretty cool. Food wasn't bad. They have drinks which is awesome. Nice deck area. Nice Beach areas on each side of the pond. I would definitely suggest if you're looking for longer term stays shoot down to St. Augustine and look at the sun outdoors. There seems to be a much more pleasant and desirable location. At least for us.
