First Coast Tire and Services on Ponce de Leon Blvd in St. Augustine is the best place I have found for vehicle service. I have been going there for years. They have the highest level of integrity of any business I have found in St. Augustine. (I can judge integrity and professionalism; as I was a federal prosecutor and have been a Florida attorney for 36 years.) Their technical knowledge is flawless. They accomplish the job on time and they always do what they say they will do. Terry in the office gave me the best advice about cars that I have ever had. His advice made a huge difference in my daily life around St. Augustine. BRAVO First Coast Tire and Service!
Upon reflection, I recommend to avoid this shop. Here’s why. Every tire shop and every bit of documentation warns clearly that you cannot just replace one tire with new when the rest are well worn. For this shop to not say anything to the contracting body shop nor to me when I personally called is professional negligence. There is clear “growling” from my car and 3 shops who have looked at it already noted accelerated and uneven wear on the other tire. For them to say nothing and just look to collect the “easy” insurance money sadly speaks to this shop’s priorities. STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU AVOID THIS SHOP. ************** Quality work but be warned of "owner liability concerns". Shop serviced my car after an accident as a referral from the body/repair shop used by my insurance company. They did solid work - effectively mounted tires to two new rims (one new tire - will get to that in a moment) and a did 4 wheel balance. Car is perfectly balanced and tracks straight and true. HOWEVER, only one tire needed to be replaced due to the accident. The OEM tires are Pirelli P7 runflats and the plan from the insurance company was to replace only the damaged tire - understandably. The remaining tires were at 4/32's and needed replacement soon. Knowing this AND knowing the P7's are both expensive and rather average tires, I called the shop to coordinate replacement of the other 3 tires AT MY OWN EXPENSE for a full set of non-runflat tires (replace ALL 4 - no tire mixing). The shop advised that they were not permitted to put non-runflat tires on my car as the owner "believed this to be a liability concern for the shop." They did quote me a price (a fair price to be said) to replace the other 3 tires w/ P7 runflats but this cost was far higher than simply getting a full set of the tires that I actually want (from COSTCO, Discount Tire, Tire Outlet, etc). So on went the one new tire and I am now shopping for a full set of new tires. I also have a nice "growl" to my car as the one new tire is causing the other tire on that side to wear unevenly. The point to all of this is that this business owner has a POV on liability that is not a technical requirement nor one shared by any of the other 10 area tire shops I have reached out to. This is a private business and the owner is entitled to operate the business as they see fit. This shop as done nothing "wrong." That said, given this "unique" POV that is not shared by the 10 area shops I reached out to, I strongly recommend shopping around to get a holistic answer to your tire needs. From this experience, I will certainly insist that any future repairs be done elsewhere.
I bought a set of tires here. The price was $50 lower than another shop, I got in the same day that I called, the tires were installed in 20 minutes, everyone was polite and friendly. I highly recommend First Coast Tire for new tires.
I had a slow leak in my 5th wheel tire. David & team did a superb professional job. They shoe horned me in right at closing. They could have easily said “Come back tomorrow”. They chose to service the problem child tire. 5 stars for 5 star guys! Highly recommend 🤩
Sent my girlfriend here to get an alignment, after a recommendation from a local auto shop. They told her that she needs all new tires - one balding, one has “steel coming out of the tire”, etc. I called back said hey we just need an alignment, they said they wouldn’t do it without replacing all the tires. So I picked the car up, without any work done. I hadn’t inspected the tires prior, but when I went with her to pick it up all the tires had plenty of tread and were fine. The guy was also clearly upset when we picked the car up. Avoid this business if you’re a single woman, English isn’t your first language, or if you don’t know anything about cars/tires. Just another scummy tire business like the rest trying to sell you things you don’t need. 10/10 wouldn’t recommend
