I have been seeing Terri for over a year and from the very beginning, Terri created a space that felt truly non-judgmental - every therapist says they practice non-judgement, but Terri embodies it. It is so refreshing and helpful. She has helped me see things from new perspectives and guided me toward becoming more independent and confident, especially in not relying so heavily on my partner for reassurance or approval. Terri has supported me through an incredibly difficult situation with my mom, and she genuinely celebrated me when I passed a very important exam, she remembered when many other people in my life didn't — it felt like having someone in my corner who truly cared. She is the whole package: insightful, compassionate, and empowering. I am very grateful for her - she was meant to be a therapist.
I first started seeing Terri many years ago when she live in Montana. When she told me she was moving to Florida, I started to feel devastated. Then she said she'd be welcome to still see me via Telehealth and that feeling of devastation went away. See, I have seen many, many therapists in my life and I have only ever clicked with two. If your an introvert, like I was, you have to feel safe when talking with a therapist. Otherwise you'll clam up and not get the help you need. This is where Terri shines. She makes you feel welcomed and safe. She is very down to earth which makes it super comfortable to talk with her and share what you're feeling or tell her about things that you've been through, past or present. As an animal lover myself, I loved when she would have her doggies with her. I would recommend Terri to anyone who is wanting someone to start a journey of healing.
Terri creates a safe space for all individuals of all types where she is willing to meet you where you are. In my experience with her I get the real sense that she is in the trenches with me that she’s willing to show vulnerability and humanity and not just delegate from on high. She’s knowledgeable about several different disciplines of psychology and has experience with troubles great and small. I appreciate her honesty. Perhaps it is not worthy to some that she does tend to have a precious little dog named Bella in the office. Not everyone perhaps works best with animals, but I find Bella’s presence to be warming. I’ve gone through many things with Terri over the couple years. I’ve been seeing her and I have no intention of changing Therapist anytime soon. I would recommend her to anyone.
I was excited to find a trauma informed therapist, however, I had a very poor experience with Terri and cannot recommend her based an overall lack of professionalism & ego. I found her dismissive, and she took it personally if I disagreed with her. She told me I was "the most difficult client" she has and used profanity in the session, which I have never experienced with any other therapist. Terri's dog was present in the room during every session, and barked at me while I entered the therapy office. Her dog growled at me, and Terri said that was due to her dog being protective of her food bowl - which was placed nearby to the couch I sat at during sessions. I was visibly uncomfortable with this, but Terri did not offer any accommodation such as offering to place the dog in another room during sessions or to not have her present. Based on my experience, I would feel comfortable recommending her to someone neurodivergent, a victim or trauma, or someone scared/uncomfortable around untrained dogs.
Surprised I haven't left a review before considering I have been seeing Terri for several years now. She has seen me from my absolute lowest and has been an absolute 'rock' for my mental health. She provides such a welcoming space and has never made me feel judged or insufficient during our time together. I do not believe there are enough words to express my highest form of appreciation for Terri and all she has done.
