Keri Kurtz is a really caring and great therapist. She really cares about her clients and will go the extra mile to meet them where they are. Effective and evidenced-based approaches to therapy with respect and concern for the whole person.
I love Ellie Mental Health, my daughter received great care there and Courtney , their clinical director, is very friendly and collaborative. I would highly recommend this great group of caring therapists!
I'm sorry for the woman who had a negative experience with Ellie Mental Health. I'm glad she found someone that provides the care she wanted for her daughter. In my experience, I've learned that mental illnesses and behavior disorders are ever changing. 5 ppl can have the same symptoms, same diagnosis but need 5 different treatments for improvement to their mental health and well being. A lot of it is trial and error until the right combination of care shows positive results. There's no quick fix. Treatment takes time and not all provider/patient relationships are a good fit. With that said, Ellie Mental Health has been more than I thought it could be. I was completely apprehensive about starting this process but from my first conversation with my provider to the minute I walked into the cozy, safe atmosphere, my mindset was completely changed. The provider I see is awesome! She is young, experienced (more than she should be for her years), and never dismissive. The other providers there are welcoming and professional when greeting me in passing. Other people in the waiting area have become familiar as we all keep returning so, Ellie Mental Health must be doing something right. For my journey towards a healthier mind and well being, Ellie Mental Health rates more than the 5 stars allowed in this review.
The therapists in this office are inexperienced and dismissive. My 6 year old saw 2 therapists in this office and both were freshly out of school and new to practicing. My daughter was a client at Ellie Mental Health for 3 months because she was showing signs of severe anxiety and intense meltdowns (2+ hours). She was also acting out at school so badly that we had to take her out of 2 schools and then homeschool her. She would just get up and spin in circles and lay on the floor. There were other concerns as well. She started off seeing someone for 2 sessions but that person left the practice so she started seeing Meg. The first person my daughter saw had not created a treatment plan of any kind. She also told my daughter that she would be at her next session, when she would meet the person taking over care, but she was not there. For a kid who wasn’t feeling well with transitions and change, this was upsetting. I asked Meg if she would be doing any diagnostic tests and creating a treatment plan. She created a treatment plan and told my husband that she planned to work with my daughter on techniques to calm down when she gets upset. She spent the sessions showing my daughter techniques for dealing with being worried. We told Meg that it wasn’t working and we thought that something else was going on. Meg said that it was just my daughter’s age and that tantrums were normal. We had expressed to her that it wasn’t a normal tantrum (I have a PhD and psychology and I was a teacher for 4 years so while I’m not a child or counseling psychologist, I knew that it wasn’t normal). I felt like neither therapist was listening to our concerns. My daughter is seeing another therapist and getting the diagnoses she needs. I don’t want to share what her mental health issues are, because I want to respect her privacy, but I do want to say that any qualified mental health professional would be able to see that my daughter’s behavior isn’t “normal.”
So happy that I have finally found my person , and my safe place to unpack life experiences. It can take a while to find the right therapy space, and in my case, 4 years to be exact.Without reservation, I can highly recommend ELLIE.
