El Mofongo

I stopped by due to having work in the area, and found this local restaurant through my search for lunch. I had their chicken, plantains, and of course the mofongo. Everything I had tasted good! The young lady up front was kind too. An overall wonderful experience, I would highly recommend!

I have loved this place for decades. As a child of the Florida Keys, I grew up with the Cubano flavor on my tongue. El Mofongo takes me back to those amazing memories and tastes. Now I love abroad but every time I come to Jacksonville, I have to make a visit to El Mofongo for a con leche and a Cubano sandwich. Both are still amazing!

I had the Tuesday special—a Cuban sandwich—and it was massive, easily enough for two people. It was absolutely delicious. I also ordered the stewed chicken (leg quarter) with rice and peas and a side salad for my friend, which looked just as good.

This was my first time here. The staff was very welcoming. We had a lot of questions and they were very helpful. Nice relaxed atmosphere for lunch. I ordered the seafood mofongo, and my niece had the picadillo and both were really delicious. My mofongo was very flavorful and full of seafood. The portions are huge. Don't forget to donate a couple of bucks to feed the cute kitties outside.
