Dr. Marcos completed a root canal on a tooth that had 4 roots. I believe he is a good endodontist but the Greenberg Dental office can be difficult to contact. Here is my experience. 1/30/23 - Visited general dentist in Middleburg for a toothache. Dentist said I needed a root canal and referred me to Dr. Marcos. Dentist also prescribed me antibiotics, but that alone did not resolve the tooth infection. My gum above the infected tooth started to swell. 2/20/23 - Initial visit to Dr Marcos. After additional X-rays, he informed me I had an abscess and needed the root canal redone. However, he said it was possible tooth was cracked. He left it up to me to decide on root canal or extraction. I told him I would think about it. Next day his receptionist called me and said Dr Marcos wanted me to have a 3D. X-ray, no additional cost, to better determine if tooth was cracked. 3/1 it was done. Next day Dr. Marcos talked to me on phone and said it did not appear to be a crack. His explanation was thorough and he answered all my questions. I had expressed concern that the tooth already had a root canal about 25 years back. He explained that sometimes they have to be redone, but again the success rate was not 100%. Left it up to me to decide, no pressure. After much reading, I decided to try and save the tooth since root canal would cost ~$850, while extraction and implant would cost about $5,000. 3/15/23 Dr Marcos completed the root canal. In the process, he discovered the original root canal was completed only on 3 of 4 roots and not all the way to the tip of the root. He re-did all 3 root canals and the additional 4th root canal. He used an electrical measuring device to ensure it was all the way to the tip. The procedure was very long. My back ached even though I was reclined. The assistant mentioned that her back was hurting as well. I'm sure it was strenuous for Dr Marcos as well and he had more patients to follow after me. He prescribed me antibiotics and said to take OTC pain relievers as needed along with other post root canal care instructions. My tooth was tender for about 2 weeks, but the bump in my gum from the abscess receded. About a month after the RC, I no longer have any pain or tenderness. Tooth is back to normal and I can chew on hard food without issues. I did find that when I called the Greenberg Dental office, the receptionist seldom answered and I had to leave voicemails. They would return the call in 1-2 days. However, I am confident that Dr Marcos is a good Endodondist. He was thorough, answered all my questions, let me decide on the course of action and completed a well done root canal.
I would NOT recommend Dr. Marcos! He is beyond unprofessional, if I could give him negative stars I would! My 12 yo daughter was referred for a root canal from a traumatic injury to her front tooth. She was unsure and a bit scared of the procedure. Instead of trying to explain the procedure to her and ease her worries he bullied her in an authoritative manner and when she disengaged from the conversation…he said I’m not working on her! And stormed out of the room. The worst experience and biggest waste of time! We waited almost 2 months for this appointment. Please, please go somewhere else, he is not caring or compassionate as a provider and should never ever work with children!!!!! A REAL SHAME for Greenberg Dental to employ such a unprofessional doctor!
I would not recommend him to anyone. Waited a month to see him for my daughter’s root canal evaluation and he was beyond rude to the dental assistant. It appeared as if he questioned her ability to take proper xrays and continued to drill her about the xrays being incorrect right in front of me & my daughter. How unprofessional. He then continued to ask me if I wanted the root canal done but hadn’t given me any prices or a plan. I told him I needed the price first and would have to schedule it because I hadn’t taken the day off work. He told me the young lady would give me the price but did I want it done today. What???? After she gave me the price, I said I would schedule it for my next payday, but until the appointment could he prescribe my daughter something for pain or an antibiotic because her face was swollen. He told me no because “nothing is going to help until the root canal is done”. If the root canal would’ve been free, I still wouldn’t let him do it.
I do not recommend Dr. Marcos at Greenberg Dental. He does not respond to calls to schedule appointments even though I indicated on the voicemails that I was in pain. I saw Dr. Marcos today for a root canal consultation. His response after examining me was “it doesn’t matter to me whether you get a root canal or not.” This was a very unprofessional response and indicated to me that a root canal truly wasn’t necessary. It’s unfortunate that Greenberg Dental employs this doctor for specialty care.
My husband sent for consult. Waited over an hour. Dr did not explain his findings or treatment rationale. Had difficulty answering questions and insisted on another consult with a periodontist without any understandable reason. Did not opt for endodontic treatment with Dr Marcos.
