Dos is one of St Aug’s OG coffee shops, and they never disappoint. This location is always jam-packed with folks for good reason—their product is outstanding. Perhaps the best overall cup of coffee in town. If you’ve never been, make it a point to drop by. And don’t be afraid to visit their 16/95 location if you are more on the introverted side 😂
I came here with high expectations, hoping to experience one of the best specialty coffee spots in St. Augustine. Unfortunately, my first impression was disappointing. I asked a very simple question about the coffee being served, and the staff could not answer it. I was told I would need to wait about 10 minutes for someone to find out what coffee was actually on the bar. For a business positioning itself as a specialty coffee shop, not knowing what coffee is being served is difficult to understand. Later, who I believe was the owner stepped in and provided an explanation, which I appreciated. The venue also has some positives: there is a roaster on site, an interesting wine selection, and you can see that there was once a strong coffee culture here. However, the overall impression is that the team training and product knowledge have slipped. Even the cold brew service felt unusual, as the coffee from the tower was poured from a separate container, leaving some uncertainty about what was actually being served. That said, I’m giving 4 stars instead of 3 out of respect for the effort that has clearly gone into this place over the years and because there are still people here who genuinely care about coffee. I sincerely hope the team invests more in staff education and coffee knowledge, because selling specialty coffee without being able to explain what is in the cup is simply not enough.
Love this local coffee shop. Located on San Marco, this coffee shop is in a great location just north of downtown. I highly recommend their cold brew and their matcha. They support a ton of local businesses and carry their products in store such as kombucha and other yummy items. Love coming here to study, crochet, or just visit friends. Make sure to stop by when you're in town.
A friend and I went here mid-day for a break while out and about in St. Augustine. The atmosphere was cozy. Even though most all of the tables were occupied, it didn't feel overly crowded. It has typical local coffee-house vibe, and appears to be a popular local spot. Our coffees were great (an americano, and just a drip coffee) and the pastries were delicious. I definitely recommend this place if you are in town. Also, there is a nice patio with outdoor seating as well, but it was a bit of a cold and damp day, hence everyone chose inside.
This place leaves a lot to desire. Seems like the kind of establishment that early on was well cared for and had a warm community vibe. Pros: my cappuccino was good and they know how to make oat milk frothy which is a plus. There’s plenty of seating. They offer some gluten free options. Lots of food options. Cons: the espresso and cold brew are pretty bitter. Their coffee needs milk to cut the acidity. The food was very much okay. We didn’t try too many things but what we did was missing the mark. The place is also super dusty and generally uncared for. I really think this might be a managed or owner let down. A little love and tlc and this place could really be worth the trip.
